The Little Girl Recovers

Ros seems to be over whatever nastiness she's had the last three days, and is now down for her bedtime. Which is awesome. I don't think any of us was looking forward to another night like last night. (At the worst, Ros was waking up about every 2 minutes, wimpering and crying in utter misery.

It was difficult, but at least she never hit the go straight to Emerg, do not pass go warning signs that the Telehealth gave us. Which was an axillary (armpit) temp that hits 104 or a dose of Tylenol that doesn't bring down the fever at all. Her axillary temp peaked around 103.4, and the last Tylenol took the fever down a grand total of 0.5 degrees, so we came close to throwing her in the car and running to the hospital, but we held off.

Now I just have to convince myself to go to bed early. We didn't get much sleep at all until 3 a.m., and not much quality sleep after that. Not with a thrashing, feverish little girl between us. (We don't usually let her sleep with us, because she usually takes that to mean it's playtime and why aren't we getting up to play with her.) Though I've been extraordinarily alert considering just how little sleep I've had the last two nights.

Fantastic news! *hugs you*

Now go to sleep!

Kids sure know how to make our hair go greyer by the minute! I'm glad your little one is getting better.

Thank goodness she's feeling better! You are a calmer mom than I would be. At 102 I would have headed for an urgent care clinic! LOL! It's a good think I can't easily track my dogs' temp. Wouldn't I be a nervous wreck?

There is nothing scarier than a sick child, but it sounds like you are a wonderful parent. Try and get some sleep.

[identity profile] st-crispins.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa. Get some sleep. You're gonna crash.

Glad to hear there's improvement. I used to put my son in bed with us when he was sick too. Beats running back and forth between rooms.

Glad to hear the little gremlin is starting to get better. Hope she'll be back to normal soon *hugs you all*

Great to hear she's on the mend! There is nothing as frightening as when your kid is ill, especially first time round (unless you've had prior experience practising on nephews/nieces etc.). You must be absolutely knackered - hope you get a chance to rest and recover now! {{}}

I'm so pleased Ros has turned the corner! It must be heartbreaking nursing someone who is so small and so poorly. I'm sure she'll be jumping around the room again before you know it!

Glad she's on the mend!

*Hugs all round*
ext_14641: (let us snuggle nao)

I'm glad she's doing better! I hope you're having a good night's sleep now. *hugs*

Very pleased she's getting better. It's a real worry when they're ill that young.

Very glad to hear she's over the worst of it - high temps can be scary things in little'uns. Momma needs to rest now, I'm sure. So go catch up on your sleep.

Definitely a relief. (And there's an inspiring icon. Sleeping!Bodie is adorable.)

Of course, did I go to bed early? Of course I did not. I am a sleep-deprived idiot.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
At least I'm enjoying the grey hair. And relieved that Ros is pretty much back to normal, though a slightly cranky version of normal.

Fortunately, we've been through this before. Though Saturday was possibly the most miserable I've seen Ros with a fever.

Now I've just to convince myself to have an early night. (There's always stuff to do! Things to read! Vids to make!)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm actually holding up remarkably well, but I've gotta figure I'm running on fumes. Hopefully I'll be an adult and go to bed early tonight. Or not. ;-/

Putting Ros in bed with us when she's sick is definitely a tactical necessity. We were moving back and forth between room every five minutes at the worst phase.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
She's mostly back to normal, though a wee bit cranky this morning.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
This was by no means our first round of childhood illness, but it was one of the worst fevers we've seen her get. And now that she's older, her reaction to feeling miserable is even more extreme than when she was a little 'un.

I think I'm running on fumes, but I'm sure I'll crash big time in the next day or so.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
The worst part is definitely knowing how bad she feels and knowing there's nothing you can do that you're not already doing.

Fortunately she bounces back fast and she's already up and about and causing mayhem.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You and me both. (Now I just have to find time to catch up on my sleep. I'm going to the movies with Sandy tonight!)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
She got a lovely night's sleep last night and seems over it all.

Now I've just got to make sure I get an early night some time soon. (I've got to shed my nighthawk impulses, at least temporarily.)

*hugs back*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Intellectually, we knew she'd get over it in a few days. Emotionally, we were starting to panic Saturday when she started getting more and more upset at how poorly she felt. Fortunately, her fever broke soon after.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the worst of it is we have three friends who's kids have had convulsions due to high fever, so we know what the worst case scenario is. Not that Ros has ever come close to that.

I definitely need to catch up on my sleep. I need to kill my nighthawk tendencies this week.

That reply was me, BTW. (Stoopid LJ login.)
