Disney Day Three: Voiceless in the Magic Kingdom

Today, I woke up with no voice. Or more precisely, with a squeaky, intermittent version of my usual voice. This is because not only did a scream like a maniac on the Tower of Terror, but I did the same thing on the Expedition Everest coaster at the Animal Kingdom. All that screaming seems to have had a delayed reaction and totally done in my voice. And I didn't help it by going on the Barnstormer kids coaster with Ros four times in a row this morning and screaming my head off just for the fun of it. (Fingers crossed I've got a day or two before I teach once I get back to work.)

We continue to have a grand time here at the Happiest Place on Earth(TM). One thing Ros has gotten into this time 'round that she didn't do much at all two years ago is meeting the characters and getting autographs. It started yesterday morning when we were at Hollywood studios early and accidentally ran into Stitch.

The person playing Stitch was brilliant. He was mischievous and funny, and pulled different stunts with the pens of every kid encountered. (Ros' pen got shoved in his ear.)

In general, all the performers doing the characters are really good at knowing what to do to make a kid's day.

Yesterday, we did the princess dinner at Cinderella's castle, which was really more fun than it should be. You're greeted in the main hall by Cinderella herself.

Ros' little cousin flat out refused to pose with Cinderella for her photo package, so the Sweetie and I did a group shot with Ros and the princess. No, I'm not going to post that one. (Let's just say it's not the worst photo of me in existence, but I'm looking more than a wee bit tired.)

Ariel was one of the other princesses who circulated at the meal. All of them were personable and lovely with the kids. (We did a princess meal at the Epcot Norwegian castle last time, and while Ariel that time was fantastic with Ros and her friend, the Aurora looked like she was having to go to her happy place to make it through the gig.) I love the smile on Ros' face here. It's pure happiness.

This morning we got to the Magic Kingdom not long after opening, and whilst we were waiting for my SIL and niece to show up, Ros decided to check out the Circus-themed character meet and greet. We got to see Daisy...

...and Minnie. (I love how Minnie has the princess pose with that one hand down pat.)

Ros really, REALLY wanted to meet Elsa and Anna from Frozen, but those FastPasses were totally impossible to score. But the Cinderella/Rapunzel ones were dead easy, so meeting them was Ros' consolation prize. (She noticed that the Cinderella from the princess meal and the Cinderella here were different people. We'd wondered if she would.)

I'm not sure what Ros thought, but for the Sweetie and me, the best character experience was Cinderella's evil stepmother and stepsisters. They were hilarious. They were mock mean to all the kids but in a weirdly good-natured way. (They took the wrap Ros had in her hair from her babysitter and made spiral patterns out of it on her head. Ros thought this was hilarious.)

And as a bonus, here's a photo of the steampunk Maleficent dragon from the Fantasy parade at the Magic Kingdom. I'm far too proud of myself for correctly guessing when it was going to breathe fire near our position.
