In which there is much cathartic whinging
I need to vent. You don't have to read. In fact,
sooguy, you probably shouldn't read.
Health:
Suffering from "high dypslasia," i.e. pre-cancerous tissue on the cervix. But when I went to have it cut/burnt off or otherwise removed last week, they couldn't find the site of the problem. Which meant more biopsies. ("This will just be a little pinch." Apparently their definition of "a little pinch" coincides with mine of "excruciating agony." Okay, it wasn't quite that bad, but it wasn't fun.) Now I have to wait a month to see if they can find the problem. And if they can't I have to go back every three months for more little pinches till they do.
Also found out I have a polyp in my uterus. That's being removed in a month: the day before WorldCon begins. The day before the picks for the Toronto Film Fest are due. How dare my health interfere with either the film fest or my scifi geekiness.
And to round off the hat trick of fun, the arthritis in my spine, which has been pretty good the last few months, is now interfering with my sleep again. I'm just darn glad I have a reasonably high pain threshold. Years of martial arts did not go wasted. ;)
Oh, and because of all this medical stuff, and the earliest they can deal with the dysplasia, if they find it, is October, the plans to get pregnant are on hold yet again. And of course I'm surrounding by friends and acquaintances who insist on getting pregnant and insist on me being happy for them. I am happy for them, but I'm also jealous, bitter and depressed, and that's only getting worse.
Computer:
Flipped out at Apple last Thursday when the service place they got me to take my ever-non-functioning machine to a) lost the hard drive replacement for a week and a half b) had the wrong kind of hard drive (2 MB buffer, not 8 MB) and c) refused to give me back the original drive, even though Apple had repeatedly told them they were supposed to. Apple has finally agreed that, yes, after six months of their not being able to fix the damn machine, they're going to replace it. Some time. Still waiting to find out when and with what. (Hoping for a new G5, but I fear they'll stick me with a G4 demo clunker and I'll go through this all over again.
I've apparently pissed off some deity. Wish I knew who, so I could make the appropriate sacrifice.

Hope the unpleasantness is over as soon as possible. :)
Me too. I know it will be. It's just overwhelming at times. :/
