Squee, Followed by Bugger and Blast

The squee first, 'cause that's more fun.

Got the Martin Shaw bio delivered to my desk this morning. Yes, it looks like a rush job, but I'm hoping it's got a few tidbits I don't know. And the cover is stunning, especially the back cover with Martin in full Doyle mode, complete with gun. Phwooar!

Now to the bugger and blast portion of the evening. We got the results of the Toronto film fest lottery and found out we're in the very last freaking box. Oy. And I thought it was bad last year when we were in the sixth last box. My paranoia at picking both screenings of Alatriste is looking significantly less paranoid. I'm hoping I'll at least get tix for the afternoon screening, even if it's less likely that Viggo will be there for that one.

Oh well, this year is pretty much a bonus, so I'm really just happy to be able to go one last year. And apart from the possibility of missing Alatriste, I'm more bemused than upset that yet again we've scored a lousy position in the lottery. (I usually count on my luck being bad, and am pleasantly surprised when things work out.)

Awww, that sucks you guys were burnt on the lottery. When do you find out what the damage is? Monday?

Everyone at work still thinks I am taking the week off despite the fact I have mentioned several times I am not doing the film festival this year. Maybe I should just stay home and use some sick days.

Enjoy the bio.

Hey did you watch all the "Life on Mars" episodes yet?

Based on last year, we probably won't get the email until late Sunday. Early Monday if they're running behind. And based on Don's less than stellar experience with the volunteers so far this year, I'm betting they'll be running behind.

I've watched the first two eps of Life on Mars and it is genius. We should try and find time for you to come over and watch at least a couple of episodes before you leave. Lord knows when it's going to be broadcast in Canada.

I think I'll crack the spine of the bio this week. Yay, fangirliness!

*shakes head* Sorry to hear it, but will be looking forward to your reviews of whatever you do see. Esp. Alatriste.

Apart from Alatriste, I'm not too fussed about what I see this year. There are *always* films you can get tickets too, and usually it's the big Hollywood films, which I'm not so interested in, that sell out first. 'Course, I'll be upset if I can't get into the crazy, little Thai films that I really *am* interested in.

We pick up our tickets first thing tomorrow, so stay tuned for further reports.
