Stupidity, Thy Name Is Zed

I don't suppose it's any secret that I don't have copious amounts of spare time at the moment. What with looking after a very busy 16 month old and all, I'm mostly just happy to be able to watch an hour or two of t.v. at the end of the day. Maybe do a wee bit of writing or plonk away at a vid.

But then [livejournal.com profile] sithdragn announced this year's Down the Chimney UNCLE story exchange. And then the [livejournal.com profile] discoveredinalj's Christmas challenge was announced. And somehow before I knew it I'd signed up for both of them.

So what made me think I could handle signing up for not one but two writing challenges before Christmas? Stupidity, that's what. Sheer, unbridled stupidity.

On the positive side, I've got outlines for both stories, and have even managed to hit all my recipient's prompts for the UNCLE story. (Let's just say that the prompts were, ahem, challenging.)

On the negative side, my brain decided it didn't want to work on either of those stories and has been pretty much independently writing a new, blessedly short, Pros story based on a billboard I happen to drive past nearly every day. I finally caved last night and started to transcribe what I had so far. Fingers crossed I can finish the bastard in the next day or two and get started on the other two stories.

Sigh.

Heh, heh, heh.

That's all.

Except, maybe: look at your icon!

You're cruel, you are. Dead cruel.

Would it help if I said I'm looking forward to reading both stories? *g*

[And I'm trying to write you email right now but I keep getting distracted!]

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-11-16 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well that's good 'cause I had thoughts of sending you at least one of 'em for a go over.

(I know from distractions. I think a certain little girl just woke up from her nap.)

But, but - but stories! Not stupidity - extra stories! You do mean you're going to be posting 2 Pros + 1 MUncle? ::sits down happily to wait:: ::sends sleeping-peacefully and playing-quietly vibes in a 16-montherly direction:: (hah. as if. I remember 16 months, when I'm not expunging some aspects of it - especially the unrelenting 24/7ishness of things - from my memory). Good luck!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
I'll take all the sleeping-peacefully/playing-quietly vibes you've got to send. (She is one busy little girl, man.) And yeah, fingers crossed there will be 2 Pros and 1 MFU stories with my name on 'em by the end of December. *g*

Not one, not two, but three stories? What unbridled optimism! What blissful disregard for reality! Oh well, at least we're about to enter the holiday season tv dead zone, so you'll have evenings to work on the stories while I catch up on TCM movies. Or maybe you can enlist the little one as a ghost writer. "Napoleon up! Ilya want milk!"

Hey, you're supposed to be a supportive spousal unit, not sarcastic guy.

Mind you, I like the idea of a baby-penned UNCLE story. (You spelled Illya wrong, though. Or rather, you spelled it right and the UNCLE writers spelled it wrong.)

Hey, you're way ahead of me, and I've not even technically signed up for one challenge yet...

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Don't you, like, have to sign up for the dialj challenge? *g*

[identity profile] byslantedlight.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, you're bumping into my careful and slowly-gained realisation that I don't have to sign up for every single challenge I post at dialj! *g*

Actually I was being all polite-wise and waiting for everyone else to sign up first. Mind you, now I'm looking at it and thinking - eep, nine days worth of extra content needed right now to fill the whole calendar! (Which, btw, wow - I love that so many people want to take part, it just makes it... *g*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-11-17 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm trying to internalize that realization myself. But then you post a really juicy challenge and I'm lost. *g*

eep, nine days worth of extra content needed right now to fill the whole calendar!

And it's all at the start of the month. Crikey, no pressure there.

Whatever possessed you

to sign up for two stories in my fandoms? Well, it really should possess you more often! Yay for Pros, super yay for UNCLE! Happy holidays for V!

All I can say is you have very good taste in fandoms. *g*

(Keep your fingers crossed I get it all written, would you?)
