przed | Finally back, and with a new vid

Owing to the fact that, amongst other things, I was insane enough to commit to finishing a new vid for ZCon, I've had no time to do anything more on lj than occasionally look at the accumulating stories on my friends list and bemoan the fact that I had no time to read 'em.

Well, the vid's done, so hopefully I can start putting a dent in the backlog of stories. (No doubt starting with The Orange Grove by

cinzia and

viva_gloria.)

It's a fluffy, slashy, multi-fandom romp using 25 different movies and TV shows. Thanks to

stormheller, m. butterfly, valentin, the UNCLE crew and my long-suffering partner (Edit: And Rindy!) for allowing me to pick their brains and raid their collections for possible clips. (Along with everything else, there's a smidge of LotR, a smattering of Sean in Clarissa and a significant amount of UNCLE.)

The other show I may try vidding is, wait for it, The Sweeney! I've got the DVDs winging their way towards me from the UK and can't wait to see it again. (I used to watch it on CBC with my mum as a kid.)

BTW, based on some fb, I've ditched the Star Wars footage and added in Chow Yun Fat and Ti Lung from A Better Tomorrow, in case you're interested. (There's a whole vid to be made from that movie someday...)

Why, yes he is. My partner is starting to push me to make a Ti Lung/David Chiang vid using all the lovely Shaw Brothers disks we have building up. And I thoroughly intend to, once I find the perfect song.

Oh my god, you're evil. And very, very right. (Hmmm, Blood Brothers, Vengeance, Tainted Love...it's all starting to come together.)

Loved it. It made me laugh. You also paced the vid well -- holding on the broadly funny images until the "I wanna stick something in you" scenes. Also liked how you handled the bridge - good match of images to sound. And of course, using Rocky Horror near the end was the perfect climax.

S adds: The Star Wars scenes were a bit jarring (they did not show any faces or expressions and were nowhere near as campy as the rest of the scenes).

So glad you enjoyed it. I struggled with the ending, till I came up with using the lips. Everything flowed from that.

As for the Star Wars footage, yeah, it's not the best for that section, but trying to find something signifying "nuclear war" was more difficult than I thought it would be. I'll probably tweak that bit if I ever find something better.

I've just lost the Star Wars footage and used shots from A Better Tomorrow (Hong Kong action) instead. Thanks for the feedback.

This was huge fun! Very well done. I especially enjoyed the UNCLE clips -- hadn't seen those in years and years.
