Off to the North Country

My spotty appearances on LJ are about to become more spotty. I'm off in a few minutes to go up north. My mom is scheduled for knee replacement surgery tomorrow, so I'm going up for a week to help her out, and I'll likely be back and forth up there for the next month or so. Assuming the operation does happen tomorrow. (The hospital apparently has a lack of beds right now, so the surgery may or may not happen. But since there's yet another snow storm coming in tonight, I've got to go up today.)

The one advantage of being off work right now is I can help out Mom without worrying about how much time I'm taking off. Though I'll still be missing Ros and the Sweetie like crazy.

Good thoughts on mom's recovery, not to mention the scheduling of the surgery, are welcome.

I was hoping I wouldn't a bereft of internet and computer while I was up there. I'd ordered a shiny new Apple laptop (my birthday gift from Mom) that should have been here days ago. But the order has been delayed for at least another week. Serves me right for not getting the order in on my birthday, but things have been so hectic that this past week was the first chance I had to get up to the Apple store and check out the various models. So instead, I'll be relying on the computers at the Parry Sound Public Library.

Have fun while I'm gone. And let me know if anything interesting happens.

Have a safe trip and I hope your mother's surgery goes very well and that she makes a swift recovery. ♥

Thanks!

And also thanks for the Bond/GO rec. I've totally bookmarked that one to read later. (I like GO a lot, and adore Bond, particularly the books.)

It's one of those rare crossovers where you really think "of course these two should have met" well, novel!Bond at least who, as you know, is much more conflicted that movie!Bond.

As I said, I don't usually read in either of those fandoms but when I ran across the header for it I just *had* to check it out.

I hope your mum's op goes well and she recovers quickly.

The surgery went really well, and she's up and walking already. Now we just have to convince her that using the morphine for her pain is a good thing.

Best wishes on a good trip. Darn about the laptop but we'll be here when you get home.

Thanks, Kat. I'll be back soon.

Mmmm, Robson Green. *g*

Good luck with your mum's op. I hope it all goes smoothly. And now that I have my new shiny lappy up and running, I will get cracking this week on our little project, okay? I'll email you some thoughts.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! And also , groovy. (Was hoping to do some work on that myself. Now I shall just content myself with scheming non-electronically.)

Best wishes to your mum! We'll try not to break the internets while you're away.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! And yes, no nasty breaking of the internets. We loves them.

I hope all goes well with your mom.

Have a safe journey.

*Good thoughts for a speedy recovery and that the surgery goes ahead are coming your mom's way*

Thanks so much, Nikki. It's all going well so far.

Safe trip to you and tons of good luck to your mother! I'm sorry you won't have your shiny new lappy to keep you company, but at least you can plan all the lovely things you'll do with it when you get back. :)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. It's all going well so far. (And it's a glorious sunny day today, so that's lovely.)

Since I am sans laptop, I'm finally catching up on season 2 Torchwood. Which means I can finally watch season 4 Who, and everything that follows. (I am sooo lame.)

Good luck, kiddo!

Have a good trip, and I'm sending your mom all the vibes she needs for a good op and speedy recovery.

*hugs*

Thanks! She's doing well so far, though feeling a bit of pain. But the nurses are pleased.

Have a safe trip(s) and speedy recover to your Mom.

Hope the big guy and Ros don't trash the place too badly while you are gone.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
The trip up was lovely (clear skies, no traffic) and the surgery went well. (The surgical nurse told the ward nurse that Mom is a "tough cookie.") Here's hoping the recovery goes as smoothly.

As for trashing the place, here's hoping. *g*

Trashing

Ros and I have been rock and rolling all night and part of every day, but we plan to repair any damage by the time you make an appearance.

The Sweetie

Sending good thoughts for your mum's surgery; both that it occurs when it should, and that she recovers well. And you have a safe trip too.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
She's doing well so far. Here's hoping that continues.

Best wishes to you and mum!

Your going to Parry Sound? I collect items from there because my real name is Susan Parry.

I will hold your mother in my thoughts and prayers. Here's hoping everything go smoothly and easily.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
That's awesome. I grew up in Parry Sound, and my mom's still here.

Any new Parry Sound-related items you'd like? I'm here for the rest of the week. (The operation went really well. Now I've just got to convince Mom that taking morphine to control her pain is a Good Thing.)

[identity profile] periwinkle27.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I usually buy historical postcards for my brother. Do you think you could mail me a modern one?

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure. I'll see what I can find.
