Suggestions Anyone? And a Confession.

Would any of you have a recommendation for a YouTube downloader on a Mac? (I may, or may not be working on a super sekrit vid project which may, or may not, concern the individuals in my icon.)

In other news, I may be working on turning my daughter into a Take That fan. I couldn't help it. She wanted to listen to music last night, she loves dancing and glittering things, and I just happened to have the TT Beautiful World Concert DVD laying around. She was, as expected, taken with Shine. It's a catchy song, and they really went all out with the production on that one.

The Sweetie is not amused, and is plotting his revenge, though I don't think concert videos of Wire are really going to be her cuppa.

A new generation emerges! *g* Have you seen Circus yet? I should think that would go down very well - sparkly catsuit! giant elephant! *g*

A dancing, glittering, musical thing is in fact a great way to describe Mark Owen... *g*

I'm now working on getting Ros to watch Circus with me. I told her about the elephant last night, and her eyes lit up, but today she's had other priorities and didn't want to watch it. Soon...

A dancing, glittering, musical thing is in fact a great way to describe Mark Owen... *g*

Isn't it just, though. *g* (Ya know, of the many things I love about the man is his crazy dress sense. He does not take the conservative route where fashion is concerned. And as someone who has a few crazy outfits of her own, I can appreciate that.)

He is often spotted wearing clothes that are actually from the women's department of various chains *g* He seems very happy in himself now and in his look, which is great to see -during the wilderness years he went very emo, took to wearing leather cuffs, got incredibly thin and wrote lyrics about the heartbreak of missing a mysterious someone (no prizes for guessing who fandom thinks that is) and also about being 'blissfully tortured' (http://www.metrolyrics.com/close-to-the-edge-lyrics-mark-owen.html). Add to this that he wrote his last solo album with the help of Gary (around the time of the Knebworth duet to boot) and you've got all the ingredients of fanfic heaven... *g* ([livejournal.com profile] cenea wrote such a story and most excellent too)

God bless Mark. The new look suits him much better than leather cuffs. Not that there's anything wrong with leather cuffs.

Crikey, those lyrics. So he's a heart on the sleeve type, is Mark? (I have to say, in the last two weeks, I have developed a huge protective streak for the man. If anyone ever breaks his heart again--I'm looking at you, Mr. Williams--I'll 'ave 'im.)

Shall have to check out [livejournal.com profile] cenea's fic. I read this multi-part AU fic by [livejournal.com profile] soundofthesurf on the weekend, and it totally broke my heart. (I cried! I can count on one finger the number of fanfic stories that have made me cry. One!)

This is why I think your potential song choice is a very very good one. As much as it could be/probably is about someone else, it would totally fit this longstanding theme of emotional songs about, well...we *know* Shine is about Robbie! *g*

Yeah, we're a small fandom but very lucky to have all the good fic we do *g* But then look at the inspiration! *g*

The one I use is called CosmoPod. It only works with Safari (and I'm a Firefox user), but it sits on your toolbar and works beautifully. I'd rather change browsers when I need to download from YouTube than use any of the others I've found. *g*

One of these days, mind you, I'm going to figure out what you're talking about... *g*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2011-03-21 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
I shall give that a go. I reckon I'll test drive a few and see what works best.

Not that you necessarily want to figure out what I'm talking about, but if you have a love of over-produced British pop and nearly naked men, not to mention slashy bandmates, you might want to check out this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqOgJZvf6YU

And if you really want to see the full slash potential of Robbie Williams and Mark Owen (the blokes in my icon) there's this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2BTSkCczd8

[livejournal.com profile] klia recommended one I really like, an add-on for Firefox called "Easy YouTube Video Downloader"(https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/easy-youtube-video-downl-10137/ ). It gets woven right into your browser. Now whenever I go to a YouTube video, there's a "Download As:" button underneath it that offers various download options. So helpful, for someone like me with a computer that's old enough to have problems with even the shortest streaming videos!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2011-03-21 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds promising. I shall give it a go.

BTW, your drabble is next up in my queue. I'll get to it as soon as my brain is over being fried by British man band RPS.

I've had a lot of luck with the website "keepvid.com" You just plug in the URL of the Youtube vid and viola... a downloadable file. :)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2011-03-21 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
I shall give that a go. Does it produce .flv formatted files? (I'm looking to get something I can throw into my clipping program to snag for vidding.)

There is nothing wrong with converting another TT fan! Get 'em young, I say. *g* I've loved them (although not in a fandom way) since I was 15, and enjoy their music and their increased hawtness even more now. Those boys sure do make attractive men, yus.

Can I just barge in here to make loud noises of approval and agreement? *g*

[identity profile] norfolkdumpling.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Please do! The more barging and loud noises, the better, in my world. :D

I'm doing my best. *g*

I was a bit old for them the first time 'round, and more a Nirvana/Soundgarden fan at the time, but now, yowza. They've definitely aged rather nicely. (I have always liked men with a bit of mileage on them.)
