Zed's Wild Ride

It's been a heck of a weekend. Not disastrous, but full of... interesting moments.

It started Friday night. We had a quick dinner at home, then packed up and set off for a weekend at my mom's. Within five minutes of us setting off, Ros got very quiet and started to complain she was dizzy. We stuck it out for another ten minutes or so, but when she started crying and screaming that she needed to get out of the car--and this whilst we were on one of the bigger highways leading out of the city--we figured we needed to bail on the trip.

I deked into the nearest mall and got her out of the car. She hysterically insisted she couldn't get back into the car. So I found a drug story and bought some kids Gravol (the Canadian version of dramamine). That did the trick. We took another twenty minutes to make sure she was okay, but she was fine. In fact better than fine: she was running around the mall, acting extremely happy. Until, that is, we explained that it was now far too late to make the trip up to Grandma's. Then she had another epic freak out of unhappiness, that only abated when we assured her we'd make the trip up north in the morning if she still felt fine.

She did feel fine in the morning, so we got up early, jumped in the car, and ate breakfast on the road. (Ros loved this part. I have a feeling she's going to vote for early morning trips and breakfast at Tim Horton's from this point on.) The worst part of this part of the trip was that the weather had turned, and instead of a slightly balmy evening, I was driving up on a grey, rainy, windy morning. Emphasis on the windy.

We had a lovely visit with my mom, and one of my cousins, and then headed back this afternoon. In a snowstorm.

A real, honest-to-goodness snowstorm, complete with near white out conditions. It was the worst storm I've driven through all winter. The only advantage was that none of the snow was sticking so the road was clear.

But we're back now, and I've got our newly acquiring HBO Canada subscription all geared up for Game of Thrones (or as the Sweetie is calling it, Noun of Nouns). And it's starting. Now!

Gotta love unpredictable spring weather. Glad you had a safe trip.

It may be a temporary thing with Ros. Keep an eye on her she could be coming down with an ear infection or something else that was throwing her inner ear off balance.

I remember when we moved up to the Big Nickel in October the one year. Really bad snow storm going through Parry Sound - cars in the ditch and everything.

We reckon it was Ros sinuses messing up her inner ear. She's been really stuffy for a week. But it mostly seems cleared up now. We're travelling with Gravol from now on, though.

I hate driving in wind. omg, what a stressful time! I'm glad Ros is okay.

Wind is a whole lot of no fun, but at least there wasn't too much traffic.

Not nice weather to drive in.

I'm glad Ros is okay and I hope it was just a one-off thing.

We survived the weather, and Ros is fine now. (Cranky tonight, but otherwise fine.)

Blimey, you don't do things by half, do you?

I'm glad to hear that Ros is doing all right and that you made it home safely. ♥

It was an interesting weekend, to say the least. But all is well now.

Crikey! That sounds a bit stressful. Glad you finally got to have a good visit with your Mum, and that Ros has no ill effects from her freak-out (I had to look up what you use dramamine for - clueless non-mum over here *g*).

It was not the smoothest of weekends, though at least the visiting part went well. (And my cousin dished some good family gossip I'd somehow been left out of the loop on.)

(I always have to look up what Gravol is called in the States. I've no idea what you'd call it on your side of the pond.)

Happy safe return! You are the best mom ever. Ros is so lucky, and I know you feel the same about her.

We have had a long winter here, snow not long ago, and although my drip system is watering twice a day, the weather is gloomy and far too windy for my taste. I have a dog agility class tonight, and I hope the wind dies down by then!

Hugs to you.

I'm so not the best mom ever. But I'm not bad. *g*

You have my best wishes for the wind dying down. Wind is absolutely no fun.

Wow, that sounds like a stressful weekend! And you still have snow. I'm sending some spring-rays-of-sunshine to you with this comment! :)

Stressful in some ways, but rather relaxing in others. At least it al balanced out.

I'll gratefully take those spring-rays-of-sunshine. We're in desperate need of them just now.

(BTW, I've finished my first TT story! I'm just editing it now, and a friend has agreed to take a look at it. I'm hoping to post it in the next week or so.)

Ah, that's good, that it wasn't all stress! And those rays of sunshine are on their way! *g*

Yay to fic! I'm looking very much forward to it!

Oh, your icon! (I'm turning into a rather big Jason fan. Him with Mark is too adorable.)

Aren't they just? *dreamy sigh* I'll post this comment with my currently favourite Mark/Jay-icon - sleeping beauties sharing a sofa... *thud*

That is another lovely icon. I wouldn't want to have to choose between them.
