Ros was still groovy this morning, so we threw everything into the car this morning and headed north. I'm posting this from a lovely cottage, a G&T in front of me, and a lovely breeze blowing in from the lake.
Isn't it? I loved I-can-grow-curls-if-I-want-to!Jay and Mark gets away with any haircut! Just to complete this I've posted this comment with another of the seldom used rare-pare-icons! *g*
Have a Barlowen video to a lovely acoustic Mark song (I'm going to end up buying his albums aren't I? I've always been a little shy of depressing music but he's so damn... that voice)
And another, because... well just because really *g*
(ps if it is like any cottage I have been to ever you will not have enough speed of internet to watch a YT and more than likely better, fresh air type stuff to do, but I figure if I link it now I won't forget *g*)
There was actually no bandwidth at the cottage, just an iPad toggled to an iPhone, which I only used briefly since I didn't want to use up all my friend's data allowance for the month. So I've just watched these now. They are adorable!
Okay, first of all, you don't have Mark's solo stuff! Really! You do realize you're totally the reason I've got all of them, right?
Second, yes, you do have to get the CDs. Or at least most of them. I'd start with In Your Own Time, because that's the one that'll grab you fastest and has some lovely songs on it. Then give How the Mighty Fall a go. It took me a few listens to get into that one, but it does grow on you and there are songs I now like better than anything on In Your Own Time (including Making Out, and man, how adorable is that Barlowen vid?!). I have to say I am less keen on Green Man. There are some good songs on it, but the production is a bit too heavy for Mark's voice and I don't think it serves him well.
But otherwise yes, run out and grab them! Don't worry about the songs being depressing, because somehow they never strike me that way, and you get to bask in back to back tracks of his glorious voice. (It's starting to make me mental when I hit interviews of him saying he doesn't like his voice, because, man, his voice is the main reason I fell for the band as hard as I did.)
The heat wasn't quite 100 degrees, the breeze was lovely, and any time it did get to hot, we could pop into the lake. All in all, a lovely weekend. (Of course, now we're back in the city and it's sweltering again, but I'll try and hold onto that lovely cool cottage feeling as long as I can.)

Ros has recovered and a pleasant weekend was had by all.
Your icon is completely awesome, BTW.
