Happy, If Exhausted
This weekend, we've had my mum down for a visit for the first time in two years. (She's gone from travelling the world by herself when she was younger, to not wanting to leave her hometown much these days.) But she wanted to see Billy Elliot, so I convinced her to come down for a few days.
Saturday, I took her all over Toronto shoe shopping, and managed to score five pairs of shoes for her infamously narrow feet.
Today we saw the Billy Elliot, which in spite of my theatre snobbishness, I enjoyed a surprising amount.
We've also spent the past week getting our picks ready for the Toronto film fest, and the Sweetie and Ros dropped them off today. (They went to the big Abstract Expressionist show at the AGO whilst grandma and I were off at the theatre. Ros liked Rothko the best, which is awesome because he's one of my favourite painters too!)
On top of the visit, we're starting to get ready to move Le Ros from the daycare she's been at for over three years to the one in her school. It's going to make everyone's lives easier. Ros' old daycare escorted kids to kindergarten last year as a pilot, but decided not to this year. And even if they had, walking back and forth to the school every day pretty much exhausted the kids. But the staff at the old daycare are lovely, and have seen Ros through a lot, and we are going to miss them.
So tonight, the Sweetie and I prepared a treat for Ros' big leaving-the-daycare party:

And now, I must collapse.
(I'm hoping I have some writing time this week, since that Pros BB is looming and I'm working on another TT epic, but what with school and the film fest on the horizon, it's looking a bit dodgy.)

We're suffering through similar but unrelated before and after school care growing pains right now as well. Hope the transition goes well for Ros.
Look forward to your TIFF report.

I'm looking forward to the start of TIFF. It's the first year we're not doing the final midnight, since that had pretty much become a very expensive nap for the two of us.

Fingers crossed on the transition to the new daycare. Ros has already been a bit tetchy the last two weeks.

The visit with my mum was lovely. Though I was exhausted at the end of it. I hope she's holding up. :-/

It's lovely that your mum came to visit and the cookies look great.
I hope Ros makes an easy adjustment to her new daycare.

So far, I think Ros' teachers are more up set than she is--as are we!--but I expect a meltdown sometime in the next week.

On the train today I made a list of fics I ought to be writing/want to write and it got to nine entries... I think I've sort of figured out what's wrong with the Pros BB fic but it's going to mean some hardcore rewriting this weekend.

This means there are nine Halo stories to look forward to in the future! Awesome!
Good luck on the BB. I've done the rewriting part of mine, now I'm just on the death march through the final scenes.
