Hallowe'en 2011

Hallowe'en continues to be one of Ros' favourite days of the year. Costumes, candy, and getting to tear around the neighbourhood with her friends? There's nothing better.

Here's Ros with our pumpkin for the year. (I drew the witch, Ros and the Sweetie did the carving.)


Here's Ros in her full costume: the Fairy Princess Soccer Player. (The costume was entirely her idea. And she's already planning out her costume for next year.)

Here's the costume I pulled together for a neighbour's party on Saturday. (I figured I had the Annie Lennox hair cut, I might as well try for the full thing.)


Here's the effect I was going for. (I have dyed my hair for costumes in the past, but chickened out of going red this time.)

I love both of your costumes and the pumpkin is fun.

We had a surprisingly large number of little ghouls and goblins visit us to demand sweeties with menaces tonight considering that it was raining really hard all night. Still, it being a school night meant we saw our last one about 8:15pm which was nice.

I don't think anyone at the party got my costume--they were either too young or too old to be Eurythmics fans--but I was happy with it.

I'm so glad the rain skipped us. We had a ton of kids (at least 150) but it was all over here at about 8:15 too. Thankfully. Ros ran around the neighbourhood, then helped hand out candy (which she loves doing almost as much as getting candy) and then passed out in a heap.

I figure I'm doing something right if she's getting the soccer player in there. I have hopes she'll want to go to Toronto FC games with me soon.

I make an acceptable Annie Lennox, but I had fun doing it.

Ros is turning into quite the young lady. (Though she's still the smallest in her class.) I love that she came up with the costume idea herself, in July, and then stuck with it. She certainly knows her own mind.

Hmmm, a Blues Brother would have worked to. (The sunglasses weren't actually part of the costume. They were just to hide the fact that I always, always, always blink when there's a flash. Better cool shades than looking stoned.)

I just had my second short haircut, and I think my new stylist did an even better job this time. Last time I think she was hedging her bets in case I freaked out about going short. This time she was all "how about I cut it down to an inch." Yay!
