Adieu to Bucky

Tonight Wisconsin was playing Syracuse, and man, it nearly killed me, but it was a great game. It was close all the way through, and the Badgers really gave it their all. But at they were down one point with 15 seconds to go and they just couldn't pull it off.

But hey, getting to the Sweet Sixteen ain't bad. And maybe next year they'll even make the Elite Eight.

How sad, everyone has been SO EXCITED all day in anticipation of the game... :-(

I can only imagine how excited everyone was there. And it was a great game. Just not with the ending I was hoping for. :-/

Where the vale of Onondaga meets the Eastern sky,
Proudly stands our alma mater on her hilltop high.
Flag we love, orange! Float for aye,
O, Syracuse, o'er thee!
May thy sons be leal and loyal to thy memory!

Which is to say, I for one was pleased.

(And by the way, who the hell writes these songs?)

Wow, your song is totally surreal. Our is pretty utilitarian...

On, Wisconsin! On, Wisconsin!
Plunge right through that line!
Run the ball clear down the field,
A touchdown sure this time.

Well, I suppose if we had to lose, I'd rather it was to your alma mater than some random team.

Also, I have to admit, I liked Syracuse's style of play (hard fought pick and rolls in the paint) better than the current Badger one (a lot of perimeter passing and 3 point shooting.) Shhhh, don't tell anyone.

Syracuse has a great system, and has created some terrific players (and some primadonnas, too...and the occasional sex scandal). I have to say that when I was there, some 145 years ago, I went to more football games than basketball, and the football team sucked. But it was fun.

I never managed to get to either a live basketball or football game while I was at Wisconsin (120 years ago for me *g*). I did, however, travel to Chicago and Milwaukee every time the Celtics played. I was a huge Larry Bird fangirl.
