Editing, Oh My

I'm determined to finally get my Pros novel, Exile, posted by this weekend. But because I am clearly far too picky/insane, I'm giving it one last read through. 63,000 words down. 19,000 to go.

And as many times as I've gone through it, I'm still finding the odd thing to tweak.

::sigh::

Lol, god, that sounds familiar. It does seem as if you have to give yourself only so many edits and that's it!

I hate hate hate reading a story before I post it because invariably I'll find all sorts of things I'd change or like to change and not just typos! That's also why I don't read my old stuff. I started reading an old TS story one day and all I could do was cringe and delete it. LOL!

BUT Exile is fantastic. I love that story. It's a grand adventure, a beautiful zine and a story that keeps me on the edge of my seat. The readers will be thrilled when you post it.

You're not too picky - you just have style and are classy!

Shall I get out my pom poms? You know I don't do that for anyone! *starts warming up*

But... but... but it was perfect the first time round! *g* At least the story grabbed me so hard that if there were any imperfections I sure didn't notice them.

Looking forward to it anyway. Stop tweaking - there comes a point where tweaking is a bit like biting your nails and anyway just produces more typos.

Pure curiosity - why aren't you using this as your BB contribution for this year?

I don't think you're picky or insane (well, perhaps a little of the latter *g*), I think it's natural to want to tweak. Apart from anything else, you learn something new with everything you write so sometimes you look at older work and think "now I know that works better this way..."

I think it's one of the best things about AO3, and one of the worst, that you can edit to your heart's content.

Good luck with the editing!

Oooh yay! Someone recced this to me but I could not find it online (and I thought, 'If Zed had written 60k of Pros I'm sure I would have found it by now!') and I was sadface - but HAPPYFACE NOW!!! *bounces*

I'm so glad you posted this! I was able to get a copy of the zine and LOVED it. The story is terrific and the art work is gorgeous. I'm happy that it's now available to everyone! Stories this good need to be out there for all of us! Looking forward to another read through of this one.
