Footie!

I have just survived coaching my first U6 soccer game by myself! Footie!Mark approves!

We got killed--0 - 6! thank Christ they don't really keep score at this age--but Ros and the other kids had fun, and so did I. But I think I'm going to draft the Sweetie to help with player rotation next time because there's no way I can do that and pay attention to what's happening on the field.

To celebrate, have a Take That Footie Pic Spam.

Howard in a football jersey, which is the closest I could find to him on a pitch.

Even on a football pitch, Jason runs like he does on stage.

Robbie tackling Jason

Determined!Mark is determined. (I love this pic. It's everything I love about Mark.)

Mark taking on Damon Albarn.

Robbie can have the last pic.

Awww, poor girls (and boys? Or is it a girls-only-team? I can't believe I never asked this! *facepalm*) and poor you! Better luck next time!

Buuuuut what a way to start the day! All my favourite guys in shorts and socks! Mark and Damon! Oh my!!! So much cuteness in one picture!

Thank you! ♥

PS: I understand your complaints about not having a decent Howard-footie-gear-picture (shame LBDS is in black and white, though they didn't really wear footie gear anyway...:(), but have you noticed you've not even looked out for a Gary picture?? :)

At this age it's still a co-ed team. Next year it'll be all girls. And the kids didn't mind too much. But I'll do a few more scoring drills at our next practice. We've got some scrappers, so I'm hopeful that we'll get much better.

Favourite guys in shorts and socks is always a good thing. *g*

Howard definitely needs to play a few charity football matches. (At some point I imagine I'll try a few screen caps from LBDS.) And I don't have any Gary footie pics. Not that I was overly fussed about it. ;-) (Bad Zed! *g*)

[identity profile] soundofthesurf.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
It's the same here, I was guessing it's still co-ed. A friend's daugher was so good from age 8 on that the club insisted she'd play with the boys. That was very good until she had to return to the girls' side aged 16. Her wry comment after the first training "I'd rather be back with the boys, they're disgusting, but at least they don't whine when their mascara gets smudged!" She's 19 now and got used to the girls! :)

You've got no Gary-footie-pics, because there are no Gary-footie-pics - the closest you come to footie-pics is him watching the footie!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Your friend's daughter sounds awesome. I'm with her on the boy/girl divide. (I fenced on my uni team when I went back to do my teaching degree, and while there was no whining about mascara, I was astonished that my team mates cried when we finished one place out of the medals at my first tourney. I was just ecstatic we'd got that far, especially as I was 30 and fencing 18 year-olds.)

I suppose we're back to LBDS to get Gary on a pitch. Or go for Gary-watching-footie. *g*

[identity profile] soundofthesurf.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
She is! (She started counting goals very early, though... *g*)
I always start smiling when I think of you fencing, it just warms my heart! You have to post a pic of you in your fencing gear one day! I'd love to see that!

Erm...or you just stick to the real football players in the band...? Judging from his Gary-ness in the "The-Flood"-outfit I'd say you haven't missed that much by not seeing him in football gear...*g*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Ya know, I don't think there are any pictures in existence of me in the fencing gear. That's a bit sad. But I do have a pic of me with my old Hap Ki Do club kicking around somewhere.

Sticking with the real football players is okay by me. With Howard as an honourary member of that crew. *g*

[identity profile] soundofthesurf.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That really is a shame! But I'll happily take any picture that shows you kicking ass...*g*

Oh, but Howard, unlike Gary, does a brilliant header...*coughs* He showed us in LBDS and it was really, erm, *coughs some more*, uhm...quite remarkable, wasn't it? Doesn't really matter, though - he's by far the prettiest of the WAGs in the band, and so he doesn't really give a sh**.

Lovely lovely... :)

But that pic with Robbie and Jason - is that real? It's always looked to me like a manip...
xx

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Aren't they just!

I'm pretty sure the Robbie and Jason is real. It was posted with a Jason quote about Robbie tackling him during that match and nearly breaking his "flipping leg." Which sounds a very Jason sort of thing to say. ;-)

[identity profile] teahousemoon83.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've read that quote (brilliant by the way :P) but still...the pic looks kinda weird? The shadows are different..mmm, it might just be me!

Congratulations on your survival (and your coaching)! I'm sure you need help and I'm sure most coaches and managers rely on others to help out!

Nice pics!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
I was a bit stressed beforehand, but it all worked out. And the dad of the one kid I kept forgetting to play actually helped me by suggesting a better rotation system. (He's been coaching for ten years, and was sympathetic about how discombobulating it is the first time you're running your own team.)

I was spoiled for choice with the TT footie pics. One more reason to love the band.

If everyone had fun, you did your job! The slaughter could be way worse ;) Calling in some assistance sounds very reasonable, if only out of self-preservation!

Ahh the loveliness, what a treat to wake up to! Let's hope some more pics can be added to the collection come Sunday, especially if it means more Determined!Mark! :D (and I don't think I have to, or can, express my longing for cuddling pics ;))

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
At this age, they didn't mind getting killed. Well, except for the one little girl who was pretty good in goal and kept very accurate track of the score. *g*

I'm definitely going to call on assistance next game. And have a better system.

I am soooo looking forward to Sunday. I've got my fingers crossed that my usual Brit TV sources post the game. And more Determined!Mark will be a fab thing. Not to mention cuddling pics!

Congrats on doing this for the kidlets. Since I've never coached a thing, I admire you. Now I was a Girl Scout leader. LOL! My youngest played football/soccer and she loved it. She was pretty good at it also and since I'm so unsportsable, I was impressed. :)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been an unofficial assistant coach the last two years. I reckoned it was time to give it a go for real. Plus, Ros has been pushing me to coach from the start. (I'm the sporty parent. The Sweetie is supportive, but has no interest in sports whatsoever.)

I've been toying with doing the Girl Guide leader thing. With my copious spare time. ;-)

[identity profile] draycevixen.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 11:08 am (UTC)(link)

Congrats on a successful first game. Yes, it was successful as you didn't misplace any of them. :D

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Not misplacing any child is definitely A Good Thing.

BTW, I'm finally going to have time tonight, so first thing on the agenda is finally watching the POI finale. Can. Not. Wait.

[identity profile] draycevixen.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)

I really think you're going to enjoy it. :D It's honestly the only season ender I've seen that hasn't made me want to throw things.

I want to WRITE ALL THE THINGS (the com is running a bunch of challenges) but summer school started yesterday and I just can't.

Still, I got one thing finished and I can work on some others in my own time.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Another friend was going on about how awesome it was, so I'm sure it's fab. (I've got the SPN and House finales yet to watch, and am steeling myself for them both. We shall see if things are thrown.)

Even with summer school in session, I do hope you get some fun/writing time.

Woot first game! *g* And oh what a lovely picspam on a sunny day - I hadn't thought about the way Jason runs before, but you're right, he does the little hands out thing! And Mark on the football field really shows another side of him to him onstage or being emo in a drain that is lovely to see.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2012-05-23 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Having survived the first game, I'm pretty sure the rest of the season will be okay. Here's hoping we even score a few goals!

I've been looking for an excuse to do a TT footie pic spam. I only just noticed Jason's running technique when I was putting this together. And Mark definitely shows another (awesome!) side when he's on a football pitch. I'm soooo looking forward to Soccer Aid. Here's hoping my favourite torrent sites come through with a copy.
