Yuletide, Yay!

I got three really fantastic Yuletide stories this year, and loved them all.

First up is a Withnail and I character study, and it perfectly matches the more melancholy atmosphere of the movie.

Architects of Decay (1083 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Withnail & I (1986)
Summary: It's Christmas Eve and everything remains exactly the same.

The other two are Take That, starting with an SF one set in the Kidz universe, with a wily, peace-mongering Mark.

There'll Be Trouble (2978 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Take That
Relationships: Mark Owen/Robbie Williams
Summary: When Mark gets kidnapped on a peace mission by a less-than-peaceful Council, the others have to come up with a solution.

The second TT story is utterly fantastic, angsty wingfic, and that's all I'm going to say because discovering the workings of this world is half the beauty of it.

Fandom: Take That
Relationships: OT5 - Relationship, Mark Owen/Robbie Williams, Howard Donald/Jason Orange
Summary: 'Gary steps forward slowly; it’s August, August 1995, the hottest damn summer in a decade, and the air is humid and thick with fumes – his eyes are stinging. The shape sitting on the edge of the roof wavers when he first sees it – he has enough time to think he’s imagining things - that he’s too late and that this sight is only wishful thinking. But Rob is there. Rob is sitting on the edge, fifty-one storeys up, shirt off, his tattered wings opening and closing with a nervous twitch and looking about as strong as rice-paper.'

This was for the Yuletide Small Fandom story exchange. The Secret Santa due date is Dec. 31st, so you have a few days yet. (I'm going to post a reminder tomorrow, unless one of my co-mods beats me to the punch.)

No worries. I had the same sort of panic moment when someone incorrectly said the Yuletide deadline was four days earlier than it really was.

And our Christmas has been lovely. Hope yours has been the same.
