Soccer Night: Game Seven

Just a quick post tonight because it is late and I am le tired.

After yesterday's apocalyptic weather--subway stations flooded! a commuter train nearly floated away!--tonight was muggy but otherwise a nice night for soccer. We were missing our best player, but the others put in a valiant effort against a really tough team. (There's one girl on the opposing side in particular who is a complete prodigy. She's got an amazing sense of the field and awesome ball control, and is pretty hard to beat.) We managed to hold them to a draw last time we played them, but this time it was 2 - 5, and not for us. We had some very near scoring opportunities, though, including three good kicks that rebounded off the goal post from one of our wee but mighty players.

Ros was again a bit reluctant to mix it up, but had some good moments of getting in there defensively.

the 2-5 is a bit of a setback after the string of excellent results, but still the overall performance this year compared to last year is brilliant. Do you think Ros will stay at playing soccer or is she is drifting away from the sport.

Actually, I think that's one of the great things about sports for kids, how it encourages them to learn to mix it up in a space where a little aggression is actually encouraged.

Wow, the weather sounds like ours! I thought I'd have to build an ark for a few weeks there. I'm glad the games are moving along, All you can do is hope that the kids are having fun and are learning the sport.
