Soccer: Games Ten and Eleven, with Bonus Writing
I missed our makeup game on Friday, but one of the moms volunteered to take over, and a couple of the dads then helped out on the day, and apparently it all went well. We had six kids, they had five, everyone had fun, but we lost. (The mom who took over was actually happy we lost because the other team was one of the ones that doesn't have many wins. So I say good for them.)
I did make tonight's game, though, which turned out to be epic. We only had eight kids, so we could only sub off two at a time, and a couple of kids ended up playing a whole half with no break. Fortunately, they're all keen enough that that wasn't a problem.
The other team was one of the toughest in our division, and their goalie for the first half was amazing. So amazing our parents were actually cheering when she stopped a goal. But our best player was back and she managed to score a couple on her. Ros was our first goalie, and managed to keep everything out. Their goalie in the second half was pretty good too, but we got two more goals on her, and they only got two on us. Final score: 2 - 4 for us.
Best thing was every kid on our kid really dug in, and kept in the other team's end for most of the game. We're still not passing much, and occasionally stripping the ball from a teammate, but they're definitely coming along.
In fannish news, I'm writing my first
hc_bingo story. And it's Pros! The first couple of thousand words came really easily, but now I'm trying to figure out where the story's going. Hopefully my muse will get it sorted out soon. And I'm hoping to get another Pros story or two out of my bingo card.

And can I tell you how excited I am that you're writing Pros again - I look forward to reading when you're done.

It's fun to be writing Pros again. I just hope I figure out where the story is going. (I think I know. Next step is finding time to write.)

Even more exciting is the idea of a Pros story from you. Gimme! *snirk*

I'm hoping the Pros story gets done soonish. Muse allowing. :-/

And:
So amazing our parents were actually cheering when she stopped a goal.
That's really impressive and quite cheering, because over here, I have the impression that one of the perils of youth football here is that the parents take it all too seriously, and abuse both other parents and the referee. And, occasionally, their own kids, for not doing well enough. Yours sounds substantially saner!
Also: ooh, more Pros on its way? Hooray!

Of course, for the really insane behaviour in Canadian sport, you have to go to hockey. The parents in the minor hockey leagues can be truly frightening.
More Pros soon! Say, you wouldn't want to give it a preview, would you? I don't need a beta, but I'm looking for someone to do a first read and make sure the ending isn't weak. And there's absolutely no deadline for it.

And ooh. I am entirely happy to look, but I may not be very good on things like 'is it a weak ending?' I don't think plot and strengthening thereof is my forte. (*eyes BB effort narrowly*) But I can tell you what I think?

I'll send the story on tomorrow when I'm back to my laptop. We're camping this weekend. I'm not really looking for in depth analysis, just a gut feeling of whether you think there's enough meat to the ending.
