Hallowe'en

Ros and I worked together on our jack o' lantern this year. She worked on a design, I transferred it to the pumpkin and she did most of the carving. It worked out pretty well.

Tonight it was a cold and rainy night, but that didn't stop Ros and her friends from trick or treating. Ros wanted to be a cowgirl, so we put together bits and bobs from Value Village. The vest was adult-sized, but we had it altered down to fit, and there were no cowboy hats her size, so we settled for a kids version of the Indiana Jones hat. She was insistent that she wasn't going to wear a bandana, in spite of the fact that it looked pretty adorable on her. (I couldn't get a picture with the bandana.)

We went out with one of her friends, the friend's cousin and the cousin's three-year-old sister. Ros was in her element helping the three-year-old up and down the steps of the houses in our neighbourhood. (She loves helping younger kids. She's dying to be old enough to start babysitting.)

I love your pumpkin - and Ros' costume is way cute. she makes a great cowgirl

Ros did a good job with the pumpkin. And the cowgirl outfit worked out well, didn't it?

Whoa, cool carving of your pumpkin! Well done, both of you.

And yay for cowgirl Ros! Okay, the hat isn't traditional, but it looks great on her! As does the vest. Mostly, though, I'm just admiring the joy that is shining out of her in that photo. *g*

The two of us have done the pumpkins the last two years.

Ros has a good eye for what looks good on her. As soon as she tried on the Indy hat she stopped looking at any traditional stetson ones. And she is just glowing in that pic. Hallowe'en is one of her very favourite holidays. She was up before any of us, which only happens when she's really excited.

Love the pumpkin!! You might have seen my post about grandson's pumpkin, but I think another, smaller but just as suitable, was found. Kids here only wear things that are totally Halloween centred - ghosts, witches, zombies, etc. We don't see miniature cowboys as a rule! Ros looks really cute!

I just read your pumpkin post. (Haven't been online much of late.) Yikes! We keep out pumpkin in the garage before and after carving to prevent both rotting and having it consumed by our local raccoons. We've had a pumpkin decay on us, but fortunately it was on our porch after Hallowe'en, and not in the living room. *g*

You get a lot of ghosts and witches here, but just as many princesses and super heroes, along with assorted outliers. One of Ros' friends was a hippie!

Lovely costume *g* I was deeply fond of my cowboy outfit when I was small (my three favourite dressing up outfits were: cowboy, pirate and princess)

We don't do much for Halloween but we've been eating a lot of pumpkin recently as they're in the shops - it's actually really tasty! But apparently only 5% of pumpkins in the UK are ever eaten as opposed to used for decoration.

Cowboy outfits are awesome. *g* As is pumpkin. We picked up a bunch of pie pumpkins in my home town a few weeks ago, and the Sweetie roasted and froze them so we've got pumpkin for pies and soup. I looooove cooking with pumpkin.

What a great time you had! Well done on the carving and on Ros' fab costume.

Hallowe'en is one of Ros' favourite days, and we had a good night in spite of the rain and cold.

We had fun working on the pumpkin. I won't comment on how cute Ros is. *g*

And yet she manages perfectly well to be utterly adorable even completely bandanna-less.

She totally rocked the bandanna-less look. *g*

It was definitely a good holiday this year, even with the rain.

Have you seen the new TT video? I can't stop watching it. I still miss Jay, but they're still totally adorable as a threesome.

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-04 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I love the new video! I love how they don't take themselves too serious and still seem to have so much fun doing what they're doing :)

It is great, isn't it?! And there are just so many moments I adore in it. Possibly my favourite bit (apart from the spray tan!) is Howard's sad little nod at the cutoff denim shorts outfit. Because you *know* he'd totally wear them, given the right incentive. (Oooh, there's a story idea!)
