New Icon...

...because several of you have pointed out that there is a Bucky that is not a Badger.

And also because I've been reading a bit of Bucky/Steve fic of late.

And finally because [livejournal.com profile] just_ann_now pointed out there's a sequel to This, You Protect and I've spent the evening devouring it whilst Ros watches Hockey Night in Canada. Team-Building Exercises is just as funny and heart-breaking as the original, and I lurvvvv it.

(If anyone else has any Captain America fic recommendations, I'd love to hear them.)

oh man, thank you so much for mentioning Team-Building Exercises - earlier this afternoon I was thinking of This, You Protect and now after enjoying the sorta-sequel, I think I must reread it; so that's tomorrow morning sorted! I do appreciate the heads up, because the stories are wonderful - Mission, Building JARVIS and The Olds are the bestest assists in the world

I'm glad to provide a mission assist. *g* (Seriously, This, You Protect and its sequel are Just. So. Good.)

Spiffing icon! :)

And I don't tend to read much in the MCU for some reason, but those stories look awesome, so I know what's next on my to-do list. Thanks!

I do have a vid rec for Steve/Bucky though. I know this song is kind of overused now, but this vid makes me sniffle every single time. Meep.

Merci! So it yours!

Man, if you read no other Steve/Bucky fic (or rather Steve & Bucky fic, since it's not quite slash, but that so doesn't matter) read This, You Protect. It's phenomenal.

Actually, the other things I'd totally recommend is the 2 story Not Easily Conquered series, but it's more straight serious, while This, You Protect mixes hilarious in with the heart breaking.

And that vid! I've somehow missed that song so I came to it fresh, and it totally made me sniffle.

Not that I've been reading a lot of Steve/Bucky or anything... http://recs-by-grac.livejournal.com/tag/steve%2Fbucky

Bless you, my child. *g* That'll keep me going for a while.

For Steve/Bucky (and often Steve/Bucky/Sam in various combinations) my first rec would be Dira Sudis (http://archiveofourown.org/users/dsudis/pseuds/Dira%20Sudis) Some of their stuff is dark (some very dark and I haven't read due to the warnings) but there's lovely h/c too if you're prepared to go through the characters working through it.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2015-03-23 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that looks very promising. You know me, I'm totally willing to go for dark and h/c. And I have to say that even though I've somehow ended up reading Steve/Bucky, while first watching the films I got more of a Steve/Sam vibe. So Steve/Bucky/Sam sounds perfectly groovy to me.

[identity profile] halotolerant.livejournal.com 2015-03-25 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
The Steve/Sam vibe was definitely there. There was a great article kicking about where someone outlined how in 'The Winter Soldier' the arc between Steve and Sam echoed the usual arc of a (female) love interest (meet-cute, offers emotional support, not a part of the Central Epic Angst BUT an important way the hero survives it/hope for the future) whereas (and just as pleasingly) Natasha gets to be the Male Best Buddy role *g*

But I want Bucky to have healing and love too, and I think that's a lot for one person to take on, so Steve/Sam/Bucky works great for me too *g*
