Uh oh
The lovely
st_crispins has just pointed out that one of my vids has been stuck up on youtube. Any other vidders have any advice on what the heck I should do about this? I'd love to post a comment on the vid pointing out that it's bad form to put up someone else's work, but I'm already feeling a wee bit exposed.
I've just put a big, freaking do not share these vids warning on my site, and I've really got to get around to password protecting my site. I'm going to give it a day, and then I'll probably be yanking the vid portion of my site down until I can get around to doing the password thing.
I so did not need this to happen right now.

Is there anyway to get it yanked from YOUTUBE with out doing more damage?

If they don't...not much you can do, apart, as you said, password protect your site.
I mean, in a way, it is flattery - does this person say that vid is hers? in which case, is theft of autorship ;) nothing you can do, really.
Sorry. I am sure it is shocking. *hugs you*

Sigh.

If you want, I can leave a comment on your behalf, I do have a YouTube account :)

If you could post a comment asking the person to remove it, I'd be very appreciative. You can tell them you're asking on my behalf and say that while I applaud their enthusiasm, I want to keep my vids in fannish forums to protect them as much as possible from legal difficulties. You might also want to add that it's good form to ask permission before posting something created by another fan.

I could post for you, if you liked. Keep your name out of it.

I'll ask Rache what they asked the other person.

In both cases, I registered (gah) and sent the person responsible a note, saying approximately:
"Hi! I'm Mary Crawford, the maker of the "X" vid you put up on YouTube. Would you please take it down from the site? I don't want the copyright owners (for the series *or* the song) to find it here.
Thanks!"
In both cases, the vid appears to have been removed (that is, I can't find it with the search words I used the first time, but both sites have wretched search engines), so I'm happy with that. I never heard back directly.
Good luck! It's a really aggravating situation. And if you want me to, I'll be happy to send the person a similar note on your behalf.

At least the aggravation hasn't stopped me vidding. I'm stupidly trying to get a vid done for the VVC deadline, and may just manage it.
