March Madness!

It's a mark of how busy (not to mention sick) I am that I didn't realize it was time for the annual March Madness basketball frenzy until this morning. And since the Badgers made it in (and as number 2 seeds!) it's time to pull out the Bucky icon for another year.

They play their first game tomorrow afternoon, and I shall be watching. (Probably huddled on the couch under my comfy afghan, coughing and sniffling, with a box of tissue in one hand and a mug of lemon tea in the other.)

I just hope they do better than last year and that Bucky gets a few more posts this year.

I work at Georgetown.

Like I could =miss= March madness.

For my undergrad, I went to a small private university that didn't give sports scholarships, so I never really got into the whole NCAA thing. And the only time I've ever really cared about basketball was during the Bulls glory days. Still, it's fun right now at work. Everyone else is so excited, it makes me excited too.

Go Hoyas!

Go Badgers!

For years I was a big NBA/Celtics fan. (I actually loved playing for years, but quite when the fact that I'm five foot nothing with a bum right arm started to be a serious problem.) It was a big thrill for me living in Madison because I could go see the Celtics play both the Bucks and the Bulls. But then Bird and McHale and Parrish retired and the Celtics started their long slide into suckiness and I lost interest. But there's always the Badgers!

Go Badgers!

Go Hoyas!

And wow, look at all those typos. It's the cold. I swear.

I was driving home today and someone on the radio mentioned march madness and I immediately thought to myself.

"Hey doesn't PRZED have an icon for that?"

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Yes, indeed. I have an icon for everything. Especially when it involves silly looking badgers.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Fingers crossed.

On the positive side, looks like I'll be staying home tomorrow and watching basketball and Life on Mars.

Oh, *whatever*... It's chaos here (I work 3 blocks from the Kohl's Center.) I'll be glad when it's over. Not to mention, no Ugly Betty last night because of some stupid-ass high school game bumping it.

PS - Sorry you're sick. :-(

Thanks. My doctor put me on steroids, so I'm hoping that knocks it out real soon.

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to be near the Kohl's Center right now.

But as a Canadian, I view the whole NCAA sports thing (not to mention high school sports) as an interesting sociological phenomenon. Hockey aside, we don't have anything quite like it here. Plus, I'm indifferent to basketball but I love basketball.

D'oh! That would be indifferent to hockey, but love basketball. I swear this cold has sucked out my brain.

Well, you can use Bucky for another week. And my team survived to live and play again next week. Good thing they're not in the same bracket!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-18 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I've got Bucky until tomorrow at least. Their next game is tomorrow afternoon. As is Florida's, if that's who you're rooting for.

Nah. My boys hail from Chapel Hill.

Ah, North Carolina. So they got through today, did they?

Last night, actually. So on to the next round.
