Pros Slash Proliferation Challenge, Day Three

Sure Bodie and Doyle are gorgeous men, but let's take a look at when they're really gorgeous, shall we?

For my money, Doyle never looked better than he did in Fugitive. First, there's the pan across the prison yard to reveal him lounging against the fence...

Then later, in the interrogation room we get this vision. I reckon this picture is single-handedly responsible for all those stories where Doyle is described as looking like a Botticelli angel. Because he totally does.

On the other hand, I rather like Bodie when he's a bit on the scruffy side. And he was never scruffier than he got in Takeaway.

I know it's wrong, but there's nothing hotter looking than a guy smoking a cigarette. If he knows what to do with it. And Bodie so does.

That hint of barely leashed violence he can so easily convey doesn't go amiss either.

And just for fun, and to make it equitable, one shot of Doyle looking a bit scruffy from It's Only a Beautiful Picture.

Love Doyle in that maroon shirt. I can see playtime for me coming up. Thanks for posting.

The maroon shirt was a fine fashion choice for our Doyle, wasn't it?

Shaw was!

Doyle really is beautiful. I think he really came into his own as he matured. I didn't really like him in the beginning of the first series, but now.....well.

You have chosen well - Bodie scruffy is lovely too.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know if they just figured out how to shoot him as the series progressed, or if Shaw just had the perm figured out better, but he really does get better looking in the later seasons. And became an increasingly intriguing character.

I've got a soft spot for scruffy, and Bodie certainly does it well.

Oooo, yum, thank you. Beautiful Doyle and I do adore Bodie in Takeaway, all scruffy and dirty and dangerous looking. Interestingly, I never think of that being a cigarette that he's smoking. From the first time I saw that ep, it was a joint, and my opinion hasn't changed.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 12:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Bodie in Takeaway is where I think we see a bit of his less reputable past creeping out a bit. He makes such a lovely bit of scruff.

As for the cigarette, I'd always though it was a joint as well, but when I watched Takeaway again last week I noticed he smokes two of them in quick succession and doesn't handle the smoke at all like you'd do with a joint.

Not that I'd know anything about that. *g*

[identity profile] empty-mirrors.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm gonna have to watch the ep again now. Hard life *G*

Remembering back... and it's been a good few years... in fact probably about the same amount of time since Takeaway was filmed *g*... the folks I hung with who smoked joints all the time often used to smoke them like cigarettes, both in quantity and style. Though the ones they smoked like that were often grass rather than resin and pretty mild.

I, of course, never inhaled. *G**G**G*

Also, doesn't Bodie share one with the kid? That, to me, says joint. Anyway...

*potters off to watch*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 12:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I can now go happily back to thinking it's a joint and put it down to the different weed-smoking habits of Brits and North Americans.

Not that I know anything about North American habits. Or inhaled. *g*

Yes, smoking is a bit conflictive for me too .... I want them to take good care of those bodies, but it can look so damn sexy. So I suppose B or D could smoke, as long as LC and MS don't! The one where Bodie is just lighting up makes him look very - this is silly, I actually feel slightly odd writing this because it's not my usual register, but there's just no other word for it; it makes him look very, very fuckable. And Doyle's just the man to do it ....

[identity profile] heliophile-oxon.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 10:26 am (UTC)(link)
PS Much better if it's a joint!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. I'm pretty convinced it's not, but I definitely like to pretend it is.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Very fuckable. Or fucked out. Either way, it's a delicious look. And Doyle is definitely the absolutely right partner for him in every sense of the word.

Stunning again. Scruffy Bodie is just totally *rowr* for me.

(have snagged the pics again, ta muchly. Once i get my computer sorted and can grabs caps from my own remastered DVDs I wont need to steal, but until then, thanks!)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a preference for scruffy, and Bodie carries it off so well.

Glad you're finding the caps useful. I'm enjoying how lovely they look from the remastered DVDs.

[identity profile] probodie.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The new DVDs were so worth getting; I'm delighted with mine. It's just my computer isnt...bloody old timer it is.LOL

Oh, this Proliferation business is going to kill me. I can't get the lads out of my head! There's something about seeing photos in isolation.... Gorgeous Doyle here. Absolutely. (And there was one scene I saw in "An Ideal Husband" when MS was looking down...and the lighting was such...oh it was that look! *g*) And Bodie! Oh, all menace and barely leashed violence. Yes. I love scruffy Bodie. Thank you!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's killing me that a) I don't have time to read most of the other posts coming down and b) I don't have time to even think about writing all the lovely ideas I'm starting to get.

Ah well, I'll have some writing time back eventually.

First off--you were posting at 2:30 in the morning?! Good grief, woman. Secondly, you picked some =lovely= shots. For me, Bodie is at his sexiness in Takeaway. It's a shame he and Ray aren't together more than they are.

I was reading through some of the other comments, and it seems like some folks like MS with the looser, wavier hair of later episodes. For me, I love him in Runner or In the Public Interest or Man Without a Past. My archetypal Ray Doyle is scruffy; has his shirt open a couple buttons more than the average bloke; is wearing jeans a size too small, boots and a leather jacket; perhaps a discreet chain or two and has a mass of curly hair (but not the poodle do from Fall Girl).

I'm a girl who knows what I like. ;-)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't even ask why I was up so late. I have no idea myself.

I agree about Bodie in Takeaway. They should have scruffed him up more during the show.

I do like the looser hair, I have to admit, but in Man Without a Past he's also sheer perfection. I could watch the scene in the hospital parking lot an infinite number of times and never get sick of it. I think your achetypal Doyle is very close to mine, especially with the buttons open on his shirt. Great minds, huh?

[identity profile] byslantedlight.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh nice... I read something recently where LC was saying that on the first day of filming MS came in wearing jeans, scruffy jacket and with curled hair after being told definitely not to, which meant that he, Lew, got stuck with the "clotheshorse" look... though I wonder which first day of shooting - first with Andrews, or first with Lew? Anyway - so maybe MS kind of relaxed and became more himself as the series went on... and LC too, cos I read somewhere else that they chose their own clothes, so... Well, whatever they did, nice pics!

And my vote is for joint too - it never occured to me that it was anything else...*g*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2007-03-30 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard the same story, and it was his very first day on set, so before Lew was hired. They wanted him to be a more conventional-looking cop, which MS didn't agree with, thankfully. So he showed up with the perm so they couldn't cut his hair short.

We all have a debauched view of our Bodie, don't we?

Thank you for all the pics you posted throughout the days.
The lads are always incredible gorgeous !

You're welcome! It's been pure pleasure sorting through eps to find the best shot to capture.
