Well, That Wasn't Quite What I Was Hoping For

Take That has announced the dates for their tour next year. And the dates are mostly terrible for us.

Not only is Ros still in school for all the dates, but they also coincide with her ice show and its final rehearsals and the standardized testing all kids in her grade are expected to do.

I'd been hoping against hope for end of July dates so we could do a two week family vacation and hit the Camp Bestival music festival and also the Isle of Wight and Brighton.

The choices are now do one week in June and hit one of the last London dates, or I do a TT show or two sans famille and we still do the two week family vacation in England at the end of July.

Rats.

Well - they are certainly living up to their name.

Can the family vacation be the beginning of July, and you go a little early?

...Wait a minute, that won't exactly work. :scratches head:

How about a command performance in your backyard? It would work for Elizabeth R.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-09 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Take That, you silly fans. ::sigh::

I like the backyard performance idea! I've been asking the Sweetie for Howard Donald for a birthday present for the last three years. Shall have to step it up to include the other two, their backing musicians and assorted dancers. Too bad he seems to balk at kidnapping to keep his wife happy. ;-)

TT are deliberately testing your loyalties and will judge you !!!!!!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-09 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
They certainly are testing my loyalties, the rotters.

Ah, well, I shall be happy if I get to see them at all.

[identity profile] sc-fossil.livejournal.com 2014-11-09 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Decisions must be made. *bg*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-09 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
They certainly must be.

On the positive side, if I only get a week in England with the family, I can probably squeeze a few extra days in for the Cumberbatch trip.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I thought that might be something you'd be interested in. :D

There may be Europe dates?

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm hoping there might be, but I'm nervous about waiting for something that may not happen. A bird in the hand, and all that.

[identity profile] draycevixen.livejournal.com 2014-11-09 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)

Sorry that life's not cooperating.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's an incredibly first world problem, but annoying nonetheless.

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
They've all confirmed that there will be European dates announced next so fingers crossed those work better for you!

But I get it, most of the UK dates aren't perfect for me either and I'd only go to one if any if the European dates are better... But I'm worried they won't announce those before the presale on Wednesday which means I'll probably end up buying tickets for the UK just to be sure.

It's all marketing, I know, but I wish they'd announce all dates at the same time... (and we all know those aren't all the UK dates, there'll be more added as sales start, it's always like that...)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, yes, and yes.

I'm also hoping they announce the European dates before Wednesday. But if they don't, I think our game plan is get tickets for an English date, and then if the European dates are better we can find someone who can use the English tickets (I'm sure there'll be someone who'll take them off our hands *g*) and get European ones. But I also really wish they'd at least announce all the anchor dates for all the territories. I'm sure the coyness is a combination of their team doing the marketing thing and also trying to judge demand, but it's bloody annoying when you're trying to sort out family vacation and school.

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
I actually doubt they'll release the other dates before tomorrow :/ I guess it's also so European fans will also buy tickets to UK gigs but these marketing strategies are bloody annoying. Same as knowing that the dates released now aren't the only ones because by the way they are spread out you just know there'll be more added in each venue. It's the same every time :(

Happened more than once that we bought tickets for what was supposed to be opening night and then suddenly opening night was two days earlier :/ Probably not gonna try that again this time.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
You're no doubt right, on all counts. And there's definitely room in there for them to add more dates for the English shows. Though I also reckon they're going to want to leave themselves some breathing room so they're not doing shows every night. They're getting older! Almost as old as me! *g*

That's annoying about opening night. I wouldn't even try to do that. I'm currently wondering how best to avoid DVD night if we're seeing them in London, since the assumption seems to be that's where they'll film. As cool as it would be to have a recording of the actual show I'd been at, I'd also rather not see them with cameras flying all around.

They just gave me a heart attack on the pre-sale code. I just got up at 5:00 a.m. our time for my Taekwando class and didn't yet have a code, when they'd said it would be mailed by 4:00 a.m. our time. But it popped into my mail box twenty minutes later.

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
The anonymous comment just now was me - didn't realise I wasn't logged in, sorry :P

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I figured that was you. *g*

There is definitely something to be said for having your show on DVD. (I'm jealous of you having seen the Circus live. Oh, for a time machine...)

If the dates work out, it would be lovely to meet up for coffee. Our husbands can commiserate. *g*

I'm glad my code wasn't the only one that was late. I reckoned it was because I have a last name that starts with ZV. I'm always at the end, unless there's a ZY.

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
I've managed to see at least one show of all the tours since they've been back :) I could have bought a mansion by now with the money I've spent on TT *lol*

Thankfully my husband loves the UK as much as I do so I think he'll survive a couple of hours of my fangirling, he's used to it anyway :)

My surname starts with an L so it can't have been that... But the whole code thing is just weird, some people never got their codes and others got five, even though they'd only preordered the album once...

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
That's awesome, that you've got to see all the tours. This shall be my first. Assuming I get the tickets. (Ten minutes to go!)

My husband loves the UK too, and he's mostly a good sport about TT. Mostly. *g*

Given the problems with the codes, I'm just going to be grateful that I got mine! I usually have horrible luck, so if things are going to muck up, I usually reckon I'm going to be on the receiving end.

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Did you manage to score tickets?

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. Hit the site right at 9:00 UK time and got the dreaded no tickets available notice.

How about you?

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
Saw on Twitter that they'd added shows June 11 and 12, and managed tickets for the 12th. Yay!

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yay :)

I got tickets on the 5th - worked on the first try after the page was loading for 2-3 minutes, never managed to get it done so easily before *lol*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yay for you! Though I'm sad it looks like we won't be there at the same time.

This was just a bit stressful, though at least I wasn't stuck in an online queue for four hours, like when I was trying for the Benedict Cumberbatch Hamlet tickets. I shall give thanks for that.

[identity profile] rangerke.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm bad boys.. If they could just announce all dates at once. That would at least make planning things a bit easier.. To gamble on possible future dates and miss out, brr. Not to mention actually trying to get tickets (limited capacity!) Ah the stress. Really hope it works out for you!!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't they know they're being inconvenient?!

It is rather frustrating. I think I'm going to try for English tickets, but then see if the European dates are better for us.

Are you going to wait for the European dates? You'll have to let me know what date(s) you're planning on.

[identity profile] rangerke.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
They should know! We haven’t been waiting for over three years for this! :p

I will try for UK-dates. But even if I’m successful I will probably try for the mainland-dates as well. Yeah you should try, can always sell them! Btw, is Ros still as much of a fan as she was a few years back? Wooden Boat was her favourite song, wasn’t it?

Hopefully the rest of European dates will be announced soon... So not good for my nerves. (In case I have to try again for tickets on Thursday, we received a note today saying our power will be cut off around the time of ticket sales. More inconvenience, more stress ;))

Good luck tomorrow!!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
We're waiting to hear from Ros' teacher about which dates he considers we could pull her from school for a week, but it looks like we're going to try for one of the last two London dates for a start.

Ros is probably slightly more into Robbie these days (she's currently learning the lyrics to Let Me Entertain You *g*) but still likes TT. We All Fall Down has taken over as her favourite TT song. (From Jason to Mark. That's my girl!) I think she's a bit nervous about seeing them--she doesn't handle noise well; I'm getting her ear defenders--but still wants to go.

Good luck with your tickets. That's rotten about your power being cut off! I hope it all works for you. Do let me know what date you end up getting.

[identity profile] moonlightmead.livejournal.com 2014-11-10 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, bad luck. Whichever of your choices you take, I hope it is unbelievably good after this hitch!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's not the end of the world, but I did have such cool plans for a longer trip. Though I suppose I can't complain since I'll be getting over to your side of the pond twice next year. (Twice! That's luxury right there.)

[identity profile] sunshine-2525.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Too bad about the dates. I wish they had released the European dates by now. I wonder if the European dates will be after the UK dates, or the other way around. I will probably try for a UK date tomorrow anyway.

I hope it works out ok for you.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-11 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
My guess (or hope?) is that the European dates will be later. But it's all guesswork at this point.

I hope you manage to get tickets, too! Let me know how it turns out.
