End of an Era

A long, long time ago (well at least a few years ago, anyway) I used to make vids. Then came Ros and the parenting thing, and Taekwondo and hockey and life, and it's been over four years now since I've managed a new vid.

Consequently, I've decided to finally close shop on my vidding site at the end of February.

I do have a handful of vids up on YouTube (it's always such a pain, waiting to find if you're going to have to launch a copyright fair use challenge for each new vid, and seeing if this is the vid that YT is going to kill your account over), and I suppose eventually I'll put up more, but for now, this will be the only way to get them.

So, if you've ever wanted to grab a copy of one of my vids, here's the link:

For those new here, there's a lot of Pros, a smattering of LotR, and a bunch of oneshots for various shows and movies ranging from Withnail and I to Spooks to Life on Mars.

I have all your vids. I remember the first one of yours I ever saw and then I tracked you down. LOL! It was Sharpe. :)

That Sharpe one was so tough. I love the show, but man, the cinematography is awful!

I can totally understand moving on but your vids will always be amazing. Love your Pros ones in particular and your multi Bohemian Like You is one of my all times favorites, that one gets played a lot.

It was a tough decision, but it just didn't make sense to pay 16 bucks a month for the site anymore when I'm not making vids and most vids get posted on YouTube these days.

I've been thinking I should do it for a while, and finally got around to talking to my hosting company.

My husband is entirely to blame for Gay Bar. He found the song, then bugged me every night until the vid was done. (It’s good to have an enabler as a partner!)

The things that happen when I go away for a bit... *g* Thanks for posting about this! I downloaded ones I didn't have. But I am rather hoping that one day, maybe several years from now, you'll find yourself thinking about what you might do with a song and some film... We can always hope! (I totally understand where you're coming from now, though, and why it doesn't make sense to keep the site up and running.)

I may not have made a vid in four years, but I still think about doing them constantly. At this point it's a joint problem of technology and time/energy. My vidding machine died and figuring out all the new gear software and techniques I'd need to start again would be a right pain, and I find that even when I've got the time to sit for a few hours, I don't have the kind of mental energy I used to when I'd vid for 5 or 6 hours at a stretch.

But someday, I do hope I'll get back to it...

Thanks for the heads up! I keep on hearing about plans for a fan-owned vid site similar to AO3; I hope this happens some day.

Although in the meantime morgandawn has pointed me in an interesting direction, so I'll have some news soon.
