Letter Meme

This is how it works: Comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

[livejournal.com profile] faramir_boromir gave me the letter B.

1. Boromir. 'Cause he was my favourite character when I first read LotR as a kid, and he still is today. Which leads me to...

2. Bean. Sean Bean. Who so perfectly played Boromir, but who I've also loved since I first saw him in Stormy Monday oh so many years ago.

3. Blake's 7. My first real fannish love, and the show that got me writing fanfic. Including my very first slash story, which will never, ever see the light of day. (The first slash piece I'm willing to acknowledge is another B, The Baltic Affair, an MFU piece.)

4. Baltimore. The setting of two of my very favourite TV shows, Homicide: Life on the Street and The Wire.

5. Bodie. And yes [livejournal.com profile] shayheyred, I know you used him in your meme too, but how can I not include one half of my current favourite slash pairing.

6. Beale. Simon Russell Beale. One of the best living Shakespearean actors, and currently knocking 'em dead on Broadway in Spamalot. Also a fave of [livejournal.com profile] faramir_boromir

7. Boyington. Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, a real life WW II flying ace and the main character in Baa Baa Black Sheep, the show that taught me to love Robert Conrad and the F4U Corsair piston engine fighter plane in equal measure.

8. Brust. Steven Brust, author of the much beloved Vlad Taltos novels, and also the Khaavren Romances, which riff on the musketeer novels of Alexandre Dumas.

9. Bond, James Bond. Because I love Fleming's books and continue to live in hope that they'll finally get the movies right. Favourite Bond book: Casino Royale. Favourite Bond movie: On Her Majesty's Secret Service. No, seriously.

10. Bottom. Because I love boys that top from the bottom. I'm just sayin'.

Loves the Beale. Loves him so much!

And about half of yours are mine too, like #10.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2006-04-29 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, the Beale.

I would totally expect we'd have some cross-over. And 10 does seem to be popular. *g*

Heh! It looks like we fell in love with Sean Bean for the exact same reason - "Stormy Monday."

And cheers to a fellow fan of "The Wire"!!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2006-04-29 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
I *still* like Stormy Monday. And the Bean is just fab in it, isn't he?

McNulty icon! Yay!

Yeah, I’m a little surprised by how well “Stormy Monday” aged, but it really did. And the young, passionate, and strangely innocent Brendan Finney is still one of my favorite Bean characters.

Hmmm. How about D?

"Pick a Letter"

Ah, toppy bottoms. Gotta love it.
Hit me with a letter.

Definitely gotta love toppy bottoms.

Your letter, should you choose to accept it, is G.

[identity profile] byslantedlight.livejournal.com 2006-04-29 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Ah now, combining 5 and 10... *g*

I'll take a letter too please, sounds like an excellent way to procrastinate once I make it into the office!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2006-04-29 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
See, I think 5's partner is more the 10. But that's just me. *g*

Your letter, and procrastination aid, is M.

I definitely agree on the Bond thing, but I am rather partial to Timothy Dalton's version.

You can give me a letter; I'll do my best.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2006-04-29 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Dalton as Bond, but the scripts and productions he was saddled with were pretty awful.

Your letter is N, for your favourite spy.

[identity profile] st-crispins.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, after thinking a whole day, I've decided I'm stuck and I need you to change the N to S :)

Pulllleeease

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] graculus already got the S, but since it's you, and since it was her second letter as well, I'll hand it out again. ;)

[identity profile] graculus.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, when the word 'bottom' appears, my first thought was for the inestimable rear quarters of both IK (of the attached icon) and James West. Oh, a subtle hint! :P

And a letter would be nice. ;)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you could easily have both those lovely gentleman doing what I suggested in 10. *g*

Your letter is I.

BTW, hint taken. I'm just this afternoon finishing off the bloody WWW story for Marian, so you shall have Zed's take on Mr. West soon enough.

[identity profile] graculus.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'd say both of them indeed qualify for that category! ;)

And yay for the WWW! :) I'll put the prodding stick away now...

[identity profile] graculus.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm. I'm going to have to ask for another letter, I think... of course, #1 of the list is easy-peasy but other than that it's not so good. ;)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Okey dokey. How about S?

[identity profile] emhen.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Hello! I just tried to view your "Withnail & I" vid and it told me the file was corrupted. :(! I was wondering if there was somewhere else it was available, or if you could put it up again?

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2006-04-30 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I just downloaded the vid and played it and it's fine. I'm betting your download was corrupted. That, or you might need to upgrade to a newer version of RealPlayer. (If that's the case, you should be able to get a free player from Real.com)

Let me know if you continue to have problems.
