Love the way your ending picks up the beginning - In the middle of a firefight his concentration was absolute and his blood sang with a wild joy. and finishes with that wild joy he only felt when surrounded by danger and protected by his partner. I loved this sentence, too - Bodie deluded himself there might be a thin layer of worry buried beneath Cowley's usual brittle exterior. . so Bodie, so Cowley! Beautifully done. Thank you!
