Well, That Was Stressful

I have Take That tickets!
takethatlive2015-01

Not that it was easy.

I hit Ticketmaster's site right at 9:00 a.m. GMT (4:00 a.m. our time), only to find the pre-sale tickets already seemed to be sold out.

Hit refresh for twenty minutes in the hopes they just hadn't gone live yet, then finally thought about checking Twitter. And yes, they'd already added shows!

So the whole family will be going to see TT on Friday, June 12th. We're in the upper level, but right next to the stage. ETA: No, we're not! We're lower level, but right on the edge of the stage, drat it. Panic and lack of sleep made me reverse the section and seat numbers. But still, we have tickets!

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!

[identity profile] miwahni.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 10:13 am (UTC)(link)
That's fantastic! Glad you got it sorted.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
So. Relieved.

[identity profile] rangerke.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! You got them! Strange and annoying it was so difficult for you to get through. I think it was my easiest ticket purchase ever! Haha I went a bit overboard. I have tickets for a few dates in Scotland and Ireland. (My friend decided to come and got tickets too :D) Unfortunately the opening date has already been moved. Was expecting that and I don’t care. I’m going! :D

Do you already know for sure Ros can get time off school? So nice if you can share the experience with your family!

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! :D

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I got them. Not the best seats, but at least I got seats.

Good for you, getting multiple dates! Should be brilliant.

Pulling Ros for a week in June shouldn't be a problem. It's after the provincial standardized tests for her grade, and they should be on cruise mode in the last couple of weeks of school.

[identity profile] rangerke.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
You got seats! Just read your ETA.. Yep, that’s what panic does. And it was the middle of the night, poor you. Mapaplan shows a decent view lower tier, edge of stage though! And I’ve read everywhere that upper tier is really high up in the O2, you will be so much closer now!

I’m so sure it will be brilliant. Idiotic band, making me spend all my money :p

That’s great that Ros can definitely come too! I hope she’s looking forward to it as much as you. (I also used to be scared of loud noises when I was younger, so I can imagine she’s a bit apprehensive about that. But with ear-defenders it will hopefully be all fun!) And We All Fall Down is a gem, you taught her well. *g*

Are you still hoping for better European dates, or are you done and satisfied?

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I was looking at the Mapaplan seat view, but clearly, that didn't help. :-/ But given that the Sweetie isn't fond of heights, the lower level is probably best.

Idiotic band for sure.

Ros looked a bit hesitant when we told her I got the tickets this morning. I'm hoping she'll get more excited. And the ear defenders should help. (I didn't even have to push her towards We All Fall Down. It was on a TT mix CD I play in the car all the time--Mark/Howard/Jason mix!--and she picked that one out herself. Clever girl!

I think I'm mostly going to stick with what we've got--going for a week opens the rest of the summer for more camping and other outings--but will be interested to see what the European dates are.

[identity profile] rangerke.livejournal.com 2014-11-14 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, I’m sure it will be wonderful however your seats turn out to be. And no chance of vertigo is a definite plus ;). I’m going to see Bryan Adams at the O2 in two weeks and have no idea if I can handle the height. :p

Oh no, fingers crossed she’ll get more excited! Does she know what you went through to get tickets?! ;) Clever girl indeed. (And clever mum for making that mix CD. *g*)

I was surprised to see that they’ve added Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle shows after the London dates, with so much time in between. Are they really that nervous about not selling enough tickets? Would have been easier to leave bigger gaps between the dates. Now they have to rebuild everything for those 3 single shows (if they don’t add more). Greedy me is still waiting for more European dates ;)

I hope you have a great time at Bryan Adams. I have to admit I'm a bit excited to be going to the O2 for the first time, as well as seeing TT for the first time.

I think Ros is warming up to the TT concert idea. We also just got tickets for her for Taylor Swift in October 2015, which she is very excited about. 2015 is working up to be a landmark year for her.

Their current tour schedule is definitely interesting. I'm sure they're a bit hesitant about how many tickets they're going to sell, and also having to work around other events in the venues. I have to say I'm glad I'm not on their crew. Doing those single shows is probably not going to be a lot of fun.

Fingers crossed for European dates!

[identity profile] moonlightmead.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yay, fantastic! I am so pleased for you!

You have been waiting for this forever, but I bet those final twenty minutes were the worst!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so relieved. The seats aren't the best, but after twenty minutes of seeing no seats at all, I grabbed the first ones that came up.

[identity profile] solosundance.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
Fab, you've sorted it! Very good news :))

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I've known from the start that getting tickets for this band is a bit crazy, but man! Though it's not nearly as bad as when I was sixteen and waited in line for Duran Duran tickets in - 30 C weather for six hours, only to have them sell out 30 people ahead of me. That is still my benchmark for stupid tickets experiences. I don't miss the days of standing in line.

[identity profile] moth2fic.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Really pleased it has all worked out!!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You and me both.

Though I'm a bit sad the Manchester dates didn't work for us. (They're right in the middle of the testing Ros has to do at school.) I was hoping we could meet up!

[identity profile] moth2fic.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah - pity about that. But I have no idea when we'll be in Portugal anyway, so we might still have been disappointed.

[identity profile] golden-bastet.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! \o/ AND seated!

They look like they're staring up at the upper level, right at you. :nods:

We're expecting a report afterward, you know. :D

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Standing wasn't an option with an eight-year-old, not to mention short person me.

I'm sure there will be lots of reports!

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I ended up paying an insane amount of money for the tickets to avoid upper level (I'm super scared of heights and get really nauseous and dizzy when I'm too high up so that would be no good) and to not be seated behind the stage, which was the first pair of tickets the Ticketmaster site suggested for me. I mean, I don't wanna pay 80 pounds to watch their backs for two hours *lol*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sort of wishing I'd paid the insane amounts now. (I just checked my seats again, and it's not section 402 seat 113 like I thought, but section 113, seat 402, which is pretty bloody close to the back. We're right on the side of the stage. Here's hoping there's not too much equipment blocking the view.

But I've got tickets! I'm actually going to get to see them!

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
I chose the cheaper option first and got block 113 as well and then switched to the more expensive ones and ended up in block 110 which seems fairly okay. But as you said, as long as I'll get to see them, I'm happy :D

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The Sweetie's convinced me that our seats should be good. He said the best concert he ever saw a a Sting concert from the side, so I have hopes we'll be okay.

Fingers crossed!

[identity profile] asilia.livejournal.com 2014-11-14 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure it's gonna be fine - the worst that can happen is that you get to look at their bums for two hours, and that probably wouldn't be sooo bad either ;)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-14 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
No, that wouldn't be the worst outcome in the world. ;-) Though the Sweetie might not appreciate it quite so much. :D

[identity profile] draycevixen.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)

congrats on the tickets and that the date allows you to take the family.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Now that the stress of actually getting tickets, I'm stressing about them being good enough, and finding a place to stay and things to do, and a flight that isn't a million dollars. (Stupid brain.)

[identity profile] sunshine-2525.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, how great for you! No such luck for me. I was at work stuck in a meeting when the presale started and when I finally could get away there were no tickets left for the dates I could go. Tomorrow will probably be even worse so I'm not very hopeful. Waiting for the european dates now. I don't think TT will come to Sweden, but Copenhagen would be great ☺.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. I suppose the one advantage to the tickets going on sale at 4:00 a.m. our time is that I wasn't stuck in a meeting at the time. I'll have my fingers crossed that you get something tomorrow. And that they come to Sweden!

[identity profile] sunshine-2525.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks, we'll see how things turn out. Haha yes, I kind of wish it was 4 am here too when the tickets were going on sale ;). Sweden is not a very good country for TT so I would be surprised if they came here. I think most Swedes are only interested in TT when Robbie is in :-).

[identity profile] sunshine-2525.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Got tickets today! Never thought that, it feels unreal ;) I'm going 30 May in Manchester. Not the best tickets, they are in the middle of the long side in the upper level, so quite high up probably. But it could have been worse and I could have been without tickets, so I'm very happy anyway and it will be great seeing them in Manchester :)

It was insane at work today too, and at first I had no luck at all so I felt very downhearted, but new dates were added and suddenly it worked out fine :)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so glad to hear it! Sounds like your experience was similar to mine, nothing and then new dates opening up. And it will be great, seeing them in Manchester. (I was hoping the Manchester dates would work for us, but they're during the one part of the school year Ros definitely can't miss.)

[identity profile] sunshine-2525.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Yeah, it was very stressful but now all is good. I actually looked for London dates first, but am very pleased with Manchester.

[identity profile] saintvic.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
\o/\o/ \o/ for getting the tickets, I know how much you wanted to find a time you could go and this means victory is yours :)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-12 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
\o/\o/\o/ indeed! Now I can concentrate on planning the rest of the trip. (Crikey, but flights are expensive right now!)

[identity profile] sc-fossil.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Good going!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I could wish for slightly better seats, but still I'M GOING TO SEE TAKE THAT!!! Ahem. Yes, I might be a bit excited. And I've started researching cool kid stuff in London for Ros.

[identity profile] bluespirit-star.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'm so glad that you got them!

We're going, too - 12th May. :)
*dances*

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-13 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, that's exciting! So you're seeing them in Birmingham. You'll have to let me know how the show is. (Can't wait!)

[identity profile] bluespirit-star.livejournal.com 2014-11-14 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Will do! :)

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-17 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
It was a definitely yay! moment.

Are you going to see them this time 'round?

[identity profile] dracothelizard.livejournal.com 2014-11-17 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
I've not made any plans yet, nope, but then there might be European dates announcements.

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-17 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Howard keeps teasing us about the European dates, so I'm sure there'll be an announcement at some point. I do wish they'd actually let us know, and sooner rather than later. I think we're pretty much locked into London, but it would be nice to see what the options are.

[identity profile] mad-lemming-89.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Just saw this! Eeeee, I'm so pleased for you! :D

I take it from your date then you're at the O2? Luckily pretty much every seat in there has a good view, even if you're right at the back on the upper levels. If you're in London for any length of time, we should say hi!

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, we're at the O2. I am sooo chuffed I got the seats. And thanks for the assurance that the seats all have good views. We're in the lower level at the side, so it should be grand.

We'll be in London for about a week (I'm currently busy investigating cool things for eight-year-olds to do in and around London) so we should definitely meet for coffee or something.

And also, I totally owe you an email! I didn't mean to drop the ball on running a mini fic fest, but life is a bit hectic (work has been nuts, Ros has an activity every day but Tuesday, I'm doing another Taekwando belt test in December, I'm writing for Yuletide and trying to stay on top of all that pesky housework/real life stuff, ::sigh::) and picking up the pace more the closer we get to Christmas.

[identity profile] mad-lemming-89.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome! :D I just missed out on seats on the lower level; the damn site reset and I lost the tickets I had, but at least I managed to get another pair! And we're fairly near the front on the upper bit. Don't worry too much about the height either - weirdly, the effect seems to wear off on people as soon as the gig they're waiting for starts up! Just watch yourselves coming back down again; that's when you notice the height...

Coffee would be great! I live not far from the O2 anyway (you can see it from my house) but really, I can meet you anywhere that's convenient for you - it's your holiday after all! :)

If you're looking for any ideas, my first place to check out anything interesting going on in town is to check out this blog: http://now-here-this.timeout.com What sort of things is Ros into? The museums here are free (which the exception of some of the smaller, 'niche' type ones) and the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum usually go down pretty well with kids!

Don't worry! :) I know how busy you are! I think everyone's pretty hectic anyway with the run up to the Christmas season, so perhaps it might be worth trying to run it in late December/into January, when things have quietened down a little for everyone...?

[identity profile] przed.livejournal.com 2014-11-25 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
They certainly didn't give you much time to think before they reset your ticket choice. By the time it actually it gave me any tickets, I flailed for about 30 seconds and then hit the buy button.

Coffee before the gig would be cool, but it's probably best if we make plans closer to the actual date. I'll have to see what our schedule looks like.

That Time Out blog is brilliant. Shall keep an eye on that. Ros' favourite thing is to run around and be active, so I'm going light on the museums, though we'll probably check out the Science Museum. So far I've flagged the London Eye, the Princess of Wales Memorial Playground, complete with pirate ship you can climb on, and outside of London, Go Ape Tree Top Adventures. (The only thing Ros loves more than figure skating is climbing.) And I'm going to try and talk her into a jet boat tour on the Thames. We're also going to look for some family friendly shows in the West End. (Ooh, just found out the Globe is doing As You Like It next summer. Which is where we got Ros' name!)

January would probably be best for me for a fic-a-thon. I'll be off work with Ros between Christmas and New Year's. And I've just finished my first (non-TT) story since July, so hopefully my muse is talking to me again.
