Well, That Was Stressful
Nov. 12th, 2014 04:53 amI have Take That tickets!

Not that it was easy.
I hit Ticketmaster's site right at 9:00 a.m. GMT (4:00 a.m. our time), only to find the pre-sale tickets already seemed to be sold out.
Hit refresh for twenty minutes in the hopes they just hadn't gone live yet, then finally thought about checking Twitter. And yes, they'd already added shows!
So the whole family will be going to see TT on Friday, June 12th.We're in the upper level, but right next to the stage. ETA: No, we're not! We're lower level, but right on the edge of the stage, drat it. Panic and lack of sleep made me reverse the section and seat numbers. But still, we have tickets!
OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG!

Date: 2014-11-12 10:19 am (UTC)Do you already know for sure Ros can get time off school? So nice if you can share the experience with your family!
OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! :D

Date: 2014-11-12 02:39 pm (UTC)Good for you, getting multiple dates! Should be brilliant.
Pulling Ros for a week in June shouldn't be a problem. It's after the provincial standardized tests for her grade, and they should be on cruise mode in the last couple of weeks of school.

Date: 2014-11-12 03:24 pm (UTC)I’m so sure it will be brilliant. Idiotic band, making me spend all my money :p
That’s great that Ros can definitely come too! I hope she’s looking forward to it as much as you. (I also used to be scared of loud noises when I was younger, so I can imagine she’s a bit apprehensive about that. But with ear-defenders it will hopefully be all fun!) And We All Fall Down is a gem, you taught her well. *g*
Are you still hoping for better European dates, or are you done and satisfied?

Date: 2014-11-12 04:17 pm (UTC)Idiotic band for sure.
Ros looked a bit hesitant when we told her I got the tickets this morning. I'm hoping she'll get more excited. And the ear defenders should help. (I didn't even have to push her towards We All Fall Down. It was on a TT mix CD I play in the car all the time--Mark/Howard/Jason mix!--and she picked that one out herself. Clever girl!
I think I'm mostly going to stick with what we've got--going for a week opens the rest of the summer for more camping and other outings--but will be interested to see what the European dates are.

Date: 2014-11-14 01:17 pm (UTC)Oh no, fingers crossed she’ll get more excited! Does she know what you went through to get tickets?! ;) Clever girl indeed. (And clever mum for making that mix CD. *g*)
I was surprised to see that they’ve added Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle shows after the London dates, with so much time in between. Are they really that nervous about not selling enough tickets? Would have been easier to leave bigger gaps between the dates. Now they have to rebuild everything for those 3 single shows (if they don’t add more). Greedy me is still waiting for more European dates ;)

Date: 2014-11-15 04:23 am (UTC)I think Ros is warming up to the TT concert idea. We also just got tickets for her for Taylor Swift in October 2015, which she is very excited about. 2015 is working up to be a landmark year for her.
Their current tour schedule is definitely interesting. I'm sure they're a bit hesitant about how many tickets they're going to sell, and also having to work around other events in the venues. I have to say I'm glad I'm not on their crew. Doing those single shows is probably not going to be a lot of fun.
Fingers crossed for European dates!

Date: 2014-11-12 02:44 pm (UTC)Though I'm a bit sad the Manchester dates didn't work for us. (They're right in the middle of the testing Ros has to do at school.) I was hoping we could meet up!

We're expecting a report afterward, you know. :D

Date: 2014-11-25 04:28 pm (UTC)I take it from your date then you're at the O2? Luckily pretty much every seat in there has a good view, even if you're right at the back on the upper levels. If you're in London for any length of time, we should say hi!

Date: 2014-11-25 04:41 pm (UTC)We'll be in London for about a week (I'm currently busy investigating cool things for eight-year-olds to do in and around London) so we should definitely meet for coffee or something.
And also, I totally owe you an email! I didn't mean to drop the ball on running a mini fic fest, but life is a bit hectic (work has been nuts, Ros has an activity every day but Tuesday, I'm doing another Taekwando belt test in December, I'm writing for Yuletide and trying to stay on top of all that pesky housework/real life stuff, ::sigh::) and picking up the pace more the closer we get to Christmas.

Date: 2014-11-25 06:14 pm (UTC)Coffee would be great! I live not far from the O2 anyway (you can see it from my house) but really, I can meet you anywhere that's convenient for you - it's your holiday after all! :)
If you're looking for any ideas, my first place to check out anything interesting going on in town is to check out this blog: http://now-here-this.timeout.com What sort of things is Ros into? The museums here are free (which the exception of some of the smaller, 'niche' type ones) and the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum usually go down pretty well with kids!
Don't worry! :) I know how busy you are! I think everyone's pretty hectic anyway with the run up to the Christmas season, so perhaps it might be worth trying to run it in late December/into January, when things have quietened down a little for everyone...?

Date: 2014-11-25 06:38 pm (UTC)Coffee before the gig would be cool, but it's probably best if we make plans closer to the actual date. I'll have to see what our schedule looks like.
That Time Out blog is brilliant. Shall keep an eye on that. Ros' favourite thing is to run around and be active, so I'm going light on the museums, though we'll probably check out the Science Museum. So far I've flagged the London Eye, the Princess of Wales Memorial Playground, complete with pirate ship you can climb on, and outside of London, Go Ape Tree Top Adventures. (The only thing Ros loves more than figure skating is climbing.) And I'm going to try and talk her into a jet boat tour on the Thames. We're also going to look for some family friendly shows in the West End. (Ooh, just found out the Globe is doing As You Like It next summer. Which is where we got Ros' name!)
January would probably be best for me for a fic-a-thon. I'll be off work with Ros between Christmas and New Year's. And I've just finished my first (non-TT) story since July, so hopefully my muse is talking to me again.
