I'm totally willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on the accent. Especially since I sometimes put on a posh accent strictly for amusement value.
I also pick up the accent of whoever I'm hanging out with. Unfortunately, even 13 years later, I still haven't entirely shaken the Wisconsin accent I picked up in 2 years of grad school. (Oh, those crazy MidWest vowels.)
