Drabble: Keep Cool (Pros, B/D)

Keep Cool

Bloody Bodie, always thinking he's so bloody cool. No cracks in the façade permitted. No sign of weakness allowed.

Not the whole story, though, as Doyle is far too aware.

Doyle's seen Bodie panic, seen him lose his rag. Not often. Only when Doyle's in danger, when he's been beaten or stabbed or shot.

He's seen Bodie lose his cool in other ways as well. Skin flushed, head tipped back, chest heaving with effort. And those blue eyes, begging Doyle to take him, to break his control.

Difficult to live with, Doyle's found, being the chink in someone else's armour.


And while I'm thinking of it, all you Pros fen out there should go sign up for a day in the Discovered in the Mistletoe Challenge. Lovely discoveredinalj mods byslantedlight and empty_mirrors are hoping to have a new Christmas Pros story or picture or vid or whatever posted everyday from December 1 to January 6.

I like it! Most particularly the contrast between angry Bodie and aroused Bodie, and Ray's acknowledgement that he is typically the cause for both. Yay!

That last line can be credited entirely to my subconscious. It somehow got from the deep dark recesses of my mind to the keyboard without my conscious mind getting involved. But once it was down, I have to admit I was rather pleased by it.

It was fun, getting inside of Doyle's head for a change and having him observe Bodie. (I have been writing rather a lot of Bodie POV of late.)

Oh this is lovely, it really is - and the perfect companion piece for Hailstorm Fury! I love the two different types of not-cool Bodie, and the way that Doyle knows both those versions, and that he's why they're there...
