I learned a bit of Cantonese over ten years ago, enough to get around both Chinatown and Hong Kong. And now the Sweetie and I both learning Mandarin. Those posts above should tell you why. Plus, living in Toronto, both flavours of Chinese are waaaaayyy more useful than, say, French.
