As if I needed any more excuse to love Simon Baker in The Mentalist, in this week's episode he shows up driving a Citroen DS21. A powder blue one. How awesome is that?

(I have a soft spot for Citroens. The first family car I remember was a Citroen DS, which my car loving father babied for a number of years. And if anyone still imported them into Canada, I'd buy one like a shot.)

In celebration of the convergence of a favourite actor and a favourite car, pics!

The man:

How can you not love this guy?

The car:

And is not this one of the coolest cars ever?

He is quite gorgeous, but what else can you expect from an Aussie!! :) His wife, Rebecca Rigg, is a local girl from my home town.

I must say that car would suit him very well.

Looks like I'll have to see if The Mentalist is on over here.

Oh, my. He's just so darned adorable! And he's made the cover of this week's TV Guide looking quite snappy. (I think it was TV Guide! I deliver so many mags I'm wonky on titles.) I think the show is great. I watched him in a couple of his earlier movies and I prefer him now. He's got the role down pat.

I remember a few Citroens when my ex was a foreign car mechanic many moons ago. You don't see them very often except in big cities now. And on Top Gear.

Yay! More Mentalist people on my f'list. I so adore this show.

And yeah, the car is great. It reads as very European (to this American).

YAY! I didn't know you were watching "The Mentalist." I had hoped they were going to explain the car, but not so much :D Still, it was an awesome shot :D

Also, as a Simon Baker fan, you might want to check out my friend Alexandra's lovely picspam (http://alexandral.livejournal.com/219367.html) :D

Adorable guy (I love those square jaw guys like him) and a cool car- not only from the outside, they have a- well very inoque steering weel. My brother in law is a Citroen enthusiast and I drive a ZX since February and love it.
The DS21 has the nickname snow white coffin, it fits the car.

I've always thought Citroens were cool.

Car and man are both classics, so they're well suited to each other.

You should definitely give The Mentalist a try. The plots are frequently naff, but Simon and the supporting cast are wonderful.

BTW, Happy Birthday! Hope you had a fab one.

I really noticed Baker in Smith, a couple of years ago. (He was one half of an intriguing slashy partnership with Jonny Lee Miller in that one.) He's totally hit gold with The Mentalist.

I really need to watch Top Gear.

The show is too much fun. Much like your icon.

As for the car bing Europea, even in Europe, Citroens stand out a bit. Which makes it the perfect car for Patrick Jane.

I've been watching The Mentalist from the start (love Simon Baker) and enjoying your posts on it immensely. (Well, I always enjoy your posts, but they're even more fun with added Simon Baker.)

I had already checked out the picspam, and it is indeed wondrous.

If you get The Mentalist over there, you must check it out. Not only is Baker fine eye candy, but his performance is just utterly joyful.

Baker's not my usual type (square jaws and classically handsome looks don't usually do it for me; I like striking guys with flaws that make them out of the ordinary) but I make the exception for him. Helps that his character is beyond adorable. Utterly gleeful, but with a side helping of carefully hidden angst.

I'm jealous about your Citroen. Someday...

They are very cool. I'm sad that dad never got the DS going again. (He meant to restore it when he retired, but eventually gave up when the body got too rotten and sold the parts to his Citroen club buddies.)

Thank you for the Birthday wishes. Still halfway through the day here and very hot, which is not unusual. ::HUGS::

The square jaw blokes are often look a bit out of the ordinary for me (ecxept for maybe Arnold). They have such a rough pirate look. Two more "examples" who work for me in that category are Willem Dafoe and Bryan Adams, also Goetz Otto. And Baker fits into the group very good. And he looks like you could have fun with him.

Aww no need to be jealous. I like my car, but it's not some kind of luxus limousine. Before that I had VW Golf, but I like the Citroen much better, and not as expensive in taxes and insurance.
I saw my brother in law yesterday and I was wrong with the "Snow white coffin" nickname. A kind of older Volvo is called like that. Some Citroen were called shark. Fits much better.
I hope you can drive a Citroen some day!

I'm not much keen on Bryan Adams (growing up in Canada in the '80s, I saw wayyyy too much of him) but Willem Dafoe is one of my absolute favourite actors. He's far from classically handsome, but definitely has something of the rough pirate about him. (I consider him beautiful, which always gets a funny look from my Sweetie.)

Practical but fun cars are, I think, the best. (I'd take a Citroen over most luxury cars any day.)
