I keep wanting to post an entry, but RL is busy, and by the end of the day I'm knackered. Every night I've basically watched an hour of Rescue Me, whatever's left of Top Gear (BBC Canada, god bless 'em, is showing it pretty much every day), then read until I pass out.

The last two days have added a new, most unwelcome twist, in that Ros came down with a wicked fever on Thursday, and it continues unabated. (She's just a bit loopy in the mornings, but then it starts spiking at 104 in the afternoons and continues through the night.) Thankfully, there are no other big symptoms, and we know she's just fighting something off, but it's still a bit worrying. Especially when the fever hits its worst and she's listless and miserable and entirely not herself. (She's told us she's tired and wants to go to bed the last two nights run. Before 8:00. That is so not my wannabe nighthawk, bedtime delaying little girl.)

She was slightly better today than yesterday. I'm hoping that trend continues and she's well and ready for daycare by Monday or Tuesday.

If I were to make a fannish post, here are the highlights:

OMG, I love Top Gear so much! Seriously. (Was cruising Top Gear sites mid-week, found out about Hammond's accident and his autobiography, and had the book ordered the next day. Friday afternoon was spent in our back garden, Ros asleep on my lap whilst I eagerly tore through the book.)

Saw the new Terminator movie. How is it possible that Christian Bale is so bloody boring in it? Fortunately, the adorableness that is Anton Yelchin was enough to keep me from beating my head against the seat in front of me. And Sam Worthington ain't so bad either. Still, it's not good.

Really, really want to see ST again. Maybe this Monday on a planned outing with a fannish friend. Assuming Ros is a bit better and I can leave the house.

Saw Up, in 3D, and it's brilliant. Funny, well-constructed, and even made me shed a tear or two.

Am this close to a final layout for the Pros novel. An it looks lovely if I do say so myself.

Hope everyone on the flist is having a less stressful weekend.

That's a high fever. I'd take her to the doctor's and I'd do it right away.

Is swine flu making the rounds up there? Because it's spreading through schools and day care centers here.

Sorry to hear about Ros.

That sounds very odd that the fever would linger for that many days. I am not recommending you overdose her, but you can alternate advil and tylenol without them counteracting each other. We had to do that once with our kids when they were very sick. It was the only thing that allowed them to rest.

I too heard Terminator sucked. I am probably going to see it tomorrow night anyhow. It was either that or Land of the Lost and I think my head might explode if I have to watch that. Don't tell me that Star Trek is going to be the best Time Travel movie out there this summer?!

I loved UP too, but I think you already knew that. I think I am going to pay the price for not ranking it higher in the Summer Movie Pool.

It's amazing how differently two people can see things. I liked the new Terminator movie but thought ST XI rather pedestrian, not to mention the plot holes you could drive a mac truck through.

Poor Ros! Poor Mom and Dad!

It is too bad about the ibuprofen issue with her because the Tylenol/Motrin combo is a good one to reduce fevers. My kids also had high fevers with no discernible symptoms of anything at all. It means the body is doing its job but it's hell on the parents to not have a clue what's going on. If all else fails, stick her in the tub with some tepid water if she will go for that. I hope she's over the hump because it's awful to watch your kid be sick and not be able to "fix" it, especially when they are this age and of the opinion that you can fix anything. The antibiotic should produce some improvement after a couple of days.

Change of subject: So you are a Rescue Me fan, huh? I absolutely love that show. As a fellow fan, what do you suppose it says of us that we are so addicted to the antics of a bunch of people who are toxically dysfunctional and often really rather unlikeable? :) Whatever it is, I am there every week and sad to see the show end with the summer.
