Well, Drat

It's been clear for a couple of weeks that our company was probably going to lay some people off.

Today I found out that I was one of those people.

I pretty much had an inkling when my boss booked a last minute meeting with me right after lunch for little to no reason, so it wasn't a complete shock. But still...

On the positive side, this means I can take some time to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. Again.

On the negative side, there's never a good time to be without income.

Anyone need a good technical trainer/video production person?

I hope the change works out for the best and that the income-less period doesn't last long!

I've already commented privately, but this kind of thing is best said again and again at a time like this.

(((((((Pauline)))))))

I'm so sorry. I know you'll land on your feet. But I also know how scary it can be. Here's to finding another better, new job!!

Sorry to hear that. This stinks and there's no much of it going around.

It's like the companies discovered they can make more money by employing less people --- and they'll work harder because they'll be afraid of losing their job too.

While the rich get richer.

Drag out the guillotine.

Oh no - bum... Shall cross my fingers that you fall into something wonderful, and manage to have a brief-enough-to-be-enjoyable time off in the between. The adventure of a new job, right?!

I'm so sorry to hear this, I know you've found a positive side to it but it's still a pig of a situation. And it's worldwide. My son-in-law has also been made redundant and my daughter will find out in Feb. whether she still has a job. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you find something else soon.

I'm sure this will be an opportunity to find something even better!

That's just... augh. I'm sorry to hear that this has happened. I've my fingers crossed that you'll be able to find something bigger and better soon-ish.

*offers you hugs*

Oh, rat's ass! :(

That's what my mom used to say when things went wrong. Even when it was something major, that expression always made it sort of not so bad for us. :-/

Big ((((hug)))) and very much hoping you find something else soon that makes you happy.

That's rotten news and, while there's never a good time, somehow just before Christmas seems to make it worse. I do hope that there turns out to be a window opening somewhere as this door closes.
But hey, use this unexpected free time for some special time with Ros, too - enjoy her while she's such a lovely age!
(((hugs)))

Oh, bugger. How can businesses do this shit at Christmas?

I know you'll get something as soon as you start looking, but that blows anyway. I'm really sorry, P.

Oh damn, that's bad news and even worse timing. :: hugs :: I do hope something comes up for you. Could be a good opportunity to reassess career direction - if you're making a change anyway, why not go all the way.

Oh, double drat. And right at Christmas! Let's get together and talk about what you want to do. I can keep an eye out for openings at The Tire.

aagh.

Bugger, that's awful. I'm so sorry. I really hope you find another job soon - and that it turns out to be a good move in the end (not that that makes it any less stressful in the now). Will they at least shower you with golden references to help with the job search and a redundancy payment to tide you over?
