Back from Escapade...
Feb. 23rd, 2004 10:52 pm...and ready to fall down tired.
I'll post more later, but here's some of the highlights.

morgandawn, who is marvellous. We talked vidding and writing and shared out mutual affection for death stories.
Ran an Editing Techniques and Vidding panel with CarolS and it went pretty well. Mostly wanted to share information on continuity editing, which never seems to get discussed in vidding forums.
Ran a LotR panel withgblvr that also went pretty well. The attendees had a lot to say about a topic that could have been naff and no one slagged anyone else's pairings. Although gblvr and I did roll our eyes at the one person who confessed to liking Aragorn/Legolas.
Attended the vid show, and was blown away by the amount of talent on display. Especially loved the L.A. Confidential vid by Jill and Kathy. My A/B, B/F vid, One of God's Better People got rather a good reception. I had a few people come up to me to say they never expected to like a Boromir vid, but that I won them over. Go me! The Pros vid, Until It Sleeps, got a more muted reception, and I have to say that I have issues with it myself. I'll be posting it online as soon as I have some time, so y'all can judge for yourselves.
And last, but not least, I got to fangirl M. Fae Glasgow, my all-time favourite writer in two of my first fandoms: Blake's 7 and Pros. (The possibility of meeting M. Fae was probably my number one reason for going to Escapade.) As a bonus, I did lunch on Saturday with M. Fae and Constance Penley, who's academic writing on fandom helped tip me from budding academic to full-blown fan.
The one weird thing about the con was finding that I was virtually the only UNCLE fan in attendance. Well, me and Rari, anyway. Very different from MediaWest where the UNCLE contingent is pretty darn huge.
