Stupidity, Thy Name Is Zed
Nov. 16th, 2007 02:01 pmI don't suppose it's any secret that I don't have copious amounts of spare time at the moment. What with looking after a very busy 16 month old and all, I'm mostly just happy to be able to watch an hour or two of t.v. at the end of the day. Maybe do a wee bit of writing or plonk away at a vid.
But then
sithdragn announced this year's Down the Chimney UNCLE story exchange. And then the
discoveredinalj's Christmas challenge was announced. And somehow before I knew it I'd signed up for both of them.
So what made me think I could handle signing up for not one but two writing challenges before Christmas? Stupidity, that's what. Sheer, unbridled stupidity.
On the positive side, I've got outlines for both stories, and have even managed to hit all my recipient's prompts for the UNCLE story. (Let's just say that the prompts were, ahem, challenging.)
On the negative side, my brain decided it didn't want to work on either of those stories and has been pretty much independently writing a new, blessedly short, Pros story based on a billboard I happen to drive past nearly every day. I finally caved last night and started to transcribe what I had so far. Fingers crossed I can finish the bastard in the next day or two and get started on the other two stories.
Sigh.
