Yay! And a Birthday Report
Dec. 18th, 2008 11:21 pmI have just now finished my
discoveredinalj story. Darn good thing, too, 'cause it's due tomorrow. Which will be today in half an hour.
In other news, I had a very nice birthday yesterday, helped in no small part by the good wishes of all my LJ peeps.
I took the morning off to take Ros to her final speech evaluation. Which she passed with flying colours. (The speech pathologist was happy that she was using four or five word sentences, but I realized after the fact that she's up to seven or eight word ones on a regular basis. Go Ros!)
Then it was off to work and our company Christmas lunch. Followed by cake and pressies from my department. (Fruit cheesecake, 'cause I can't eat chocolate, and cinema gift cards, 'cause clearly they know me well.)
In the evening, we had a nice birthday dinner, with more cake (white chocolate mousse cake, yum), accompanied by Ros singing Happy Birthday, which was awesome. (Her version has only two lines, and they're both "Happy Birthday to Mommy.") Then our babysitter arrived so we could go to a birthday movie, and Ros DIDN'T CRY AT ALL. Not once. Not one little bit. This is a first and was an amazing birthday pressie.
Finally, after the flick (Slumdog Millionaire; you should see it) it was home and more pressies. Including Maurice Vellekoop's Pin-Ups, which the slash fans on my list should check out immediately. And a Toronto FC supporter's scarf, which I love, love, love. (The Sweetie tried to get me one last year, but they're apparently difficult to track down. He's now sworn to try and get me a ticket to a game, but we'll see.)
All in all, it was a lovely day and a fitting way to turn 43.
