Winter Rambles
Dec. 11th, 2009 09:18 amIt's been exactly two weeks and two days since I got the bad news at work. And this is the very first day I haven't been swamped with a crazy amount of stuff to do. My first week I was fighting with my resume, and putting together a budget (still in progress), and taking a Photoshop course that work had agreed to pay for before the axe fell.
This week I've been in non-stop job search seminars, also paid for by the company. And when I haven't been in class, I've been staying up till all hours, tweaking the resume until it is a shiny wonderful thing (I took it to my job coach yesterday and she couldn't find a single thing to improve, yay!), and struggling with stoopid cover letters (I hates them, precious). And then there's the Christmas shopping. We're scaling back a bit, but there will still be Christmas, gosh darn it.
So today I finally get to do the unemployed, watching TV and eating bonbons thing.
Except not really.
Because I've still got three Christmas stories to write.
The Pros one is, blessedly, pretty much done except for the betaing/editing. But that still leaves my UNCLE DTC story, that is two thirds done but has not yet given up its ending. And the Yuletide story, which at the moment consists of a single line and a vague outline swirling about in my head. I shan't be aiming to go much over the 1,000 work minimum for that. (Note to Muse: Do not give me a idea which involves lots of plot and research!) I'm thinking maybe today is a good day to watch the source for that.
Hope you're all well and happy in LJ land, and those of you who've had winter storms the last few days are nicely dug out.
Thanks to everyone who sent cookie and other virtual Christmas gifties earlier in the week. You're all awesome. (I only got a few sent out before they revoked the free cookies, but know that I was thinking of you all.)
