Soccer Night: Game Five
Jun. 18th, 2013 11:17 pmIt was another glorious night for soccer: blue skies, and with a temperature Goldilocks would have loved: not too hot; not too cold; just right. And our kids did fabulously. Last week one of our girls led the goals by a long mark; tonight there were lots of contributions by everyone. And we won again! 5 - 3. (Though it should have been 5 - 4, since the ref decided not to count a goal we scored on ourselves.)
Ros is doing pretty well, but she needs to dig in a bit. She's generally very strategic and will hang back only to swoop in when the ball moves towards our goal, but tonight she was mostly just hanging back. And I know she's got it in her. During practice I paired her with our strongest player for some defensive drills--not because I'm some crazy ambitious soccer mom/coach, but just because they happened to be standing beside each other--and she managed to take te ball from her, so I know she can do it when she wants to. Clearly, there needs to be some low stress, kicking the ball around in the park.
