I begged, pleaded and cajoled, but I only managed to get four kids to turn out for our make up game on Friday. Fortunately, that's the bare minimum number of players you can have and not forfeit your game. Even more fortunately, the other team didn't turn up at all. So after half an hour of practice and waiting around, we managed to get the points for the win without an actual game being played. It's a cheap way to win, but I'll take it.

And I wasn't unhappy that we got to leave early, because Ros and I had tickets to a U20 Women's World Cup, Canada v. Finland. The Sweetie drove us from the field to the subway, and then we hightailed it down to BMO Field, where we arrived just slightly after kick off. It was a fab, tense game, and we both enjoyed it immensely. And Canada won, 3 - 2, so that made it even more awesome. Canada is not only hosting the U20 Women's World Cup this year, but the regular Women's World Cup next year, so we'll definitely be getting tickets to more games.

Tonight was our thirteenth game, and we had a better turnout than the make up game, though still only 8 of our full 14. But the girls all had energy tonight (it was much cooler than it has been) and they turned in a stellar performance. They sort of trounced the other team, 0 - 7. (We put on all our weakest players for our final rotation, figuring we'd give them a chance to score. But Ros was in goal and did a great job of keeping the ball out.)
