Yuletide Goodies
Dec. 28th, 2018 10:40 pmI was fortunate to get not just a regular Yuletide gift this year, but also a treat, both in Marvel adjacent fandoms, and both are wonderful.
My main gift is a genius crossover of Push (a Chris Evans movie) and Political Animals (a Sebastian Stan TV series). Evan's character, Nick, is a telekinetic on the run from a shady government organization, Division. He approaches Stan's T.J., whose mother is about to be elected President, for help facing down Division, and of course they fall in love.
This Much Is True (14650 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Political Animals, Push (2009)
Relationships: Thomas "T. J." Hammond/Nick Gant
Characters: Thomas "T. J." Hammond, Nick Gant, Cassie Holmes, Douglas Hammond, Elaine Barrish
Additional Tags: Crossover Pairings, References to Suicide Attempt, References to Addiction, Deception, It Wasn't All a Lie, soft boys in love, TJ gets his shit together
Summary: He’d always hated the soft needy creature that lived inside him, that wanted to matter more than politics or a public image. That craved nothing more than to be the center of someone’s world.
The treat occurs just in the world of Push, and shows a slide of how Nick ended up in Hong Kong.
Midnight Boxcars (1150 words) by Anonymous
Fandom: Push (2009)
Characters: Nick Gant
Additional Tags: Pre-Canon, Yuletide Treat
Summary: He doesn’t know where he picks up the set of cheap, red plastic dice. Probably from one of shelters. Two sixes are boxcars, Nate tells him, breath sour with whiskey and meds. Midnight, Dory disagrees. They go back to arguing over their chess game; he never sees them again.
