The banter was spot on, which I loved, but what drew me to the story most was the characterization of Mary as a strong person, certainly equal to Holmes in her dedication to Watson. It was perfect in showing WHY Watson loves her and what he saw in her to begin with. She and Holmes should not be enemies and now they are not. The way the story begins and ends with the same observation: "They learn to tolerate each other ..." makes the narrative a complete circle (like the relationship between the 3 of them) and the last line is just perfect.
