Yuletide Reveal

Yuletide was a lovely experience again this year, though things have been hectic enough that I've only had a chance to read a very few stories. I did want to highlight my gift story, though.
The fandom I sort of most wanted a story in was Legion. Yes, it's kind of a silly movie that makes no sense, but it has a buff Paul Bettany as a kickass angel, and a huge potential for archangel slash with Bettany's Michael and Kevin Durand's Gabriel. My writer did in fact write a Legion story, and a pretty fantastic one at that.
let all mortal flesh (1204 words) by
Carmilla
Fandom: Legion (2010)
Relationships: Gabriel/Michael
let all mortal flesh follows Michael and Gabriel from creation to the end of the film, and beyond. The writing is elegant, the slash isn't explicit but is beautifully wrought, and it has a training sequence:
Michael would demonstrate a movement and then watch as Gabriel imitated him. And if it was right, he would nod, and command, Again. (And again, and again, until the movement was seated deep down in his body, well beyond any conscious thought.) If it was not right, Michael would place his hands on Gabriel, and, firmly and infinitely slowly, make him move as he should.
I absolutely adore training sequences--good training sequence can be something akin to both dance and sex--and this is a lovely example thereof. The whole story is wonderful, and I highly recommend it.
The story I wrote is this one:
Down a Dark Desert Highway (1677 words) by
PR Zed
Fandom: A Knight's Tale (2001), Hotel California - The Eagles (Song)
Relationships: Geoffrey Chaucer/William Thatcher
Yep, that's a crossover between A Knight's Tale and Hotel California. I'd offered A Knight's Tale, and when I saw the song in my recipients list of requests, my first thought was "how ever would you write a story based on that?" But then I had an image of Geoffrey Chaucer stuck for eternity in the hotel and it just sort of wrote itself.
shayheyred did her usual bang up betaing job and made the whole thing better.
And just for fun, here's one, very belated, Yuletide rec:
Ship Song (Der Himmel Uber Berlin Remix) (4986 words) by
kenaz
Fandom: Good Omens - Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett, wings of desire
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Aziraphale/Crowley
Characters: Aziraphale, Crowley (Good Omens), Nick Cave, Blixa Bargeld, Peter Falk
It was the second year in a row I request a Wings of Desire fic, preferably with Nick Cave, to no avail, so I decided to see what else might be in the archive for the fandom. This story dates from Yuletide 2009, and may not have been written to my prompts, but it is my platonic ideal of a Wings of Desire fic. Not only does it have Nick, but also Blixa Bargeld, and Aziraphale and Crowley from Good Omens. Fabulous!
p.s. It has occurred to me that I've gone from being the sort of person who thinks wingfic is a bit silly to being the sort of person who requests two fandoms with angels for Yuletide. Hmmm.
