Le Sigh

I was hoping to catch up on my film fest reviews tonight. But whilst standing in line for an early film tonight, I had one of my periodic anaphylactic reactions-face and tongue swelling up, and as a bonus, hives everywhere--which necessitated the taking of Benedryl. The pill got me through the film without having to either use my Epi-pen or call 911, but it's now making me rather loopy, so I'll be hitting the hay early. (I haven't had a bad reaction like this since Ros was a baby, thankfully, but I do wish the cause was easily spotted. I've seen five different allergists over the years, and the best diagnosis I've ever gotten was idiopathic angio-edema. Which in real human being talk means "you swell up sometimes but we don't know why."

Just so this post isn't completely lacking in fannish content, here's my Pros Big Bang word count:

The 38,000 is a guesstimate for the overall total, but I'm beginning to fear it'll be much closer to 40k by the time it's all done. I'm having to keep telling myself I can finish this by September 23. ::takes deep calming breaths::

Oh crikey, I hope you feel better soon! D: That sounds awful. Good luck with your Big Bang fic though - even if it turns out to be 40k, you're only 5000 words away from that! ;)

Anaphylaxis is an absolute terror of mine, so I'm glad you've got an Epi-pen at least, but do be careful with yourself *worried hugs* Hope you're feeling much better now.

Your word count is mighty impressive and I cannot wait for the end product! *g*

The anaphylaxis was scarier when I first started having it and didn't know how bad it would get or how quickly. These days I know when it's a take Benedryl and go to bed reaction, and when it's a go to the hospital right now reaction. This one was bad, but not too bad.

Thanks for the BB luck. (Part of why I'm anxious to finish it is so I can get back to a few TT stories I've left hanging. Shhhh, don't tell my Pros friends. *g*)

I've been having random anaphylaxis since 1992, so I pretty much know when Benedryl will knock it down, and when I should pull out the Epi-pen and call the ambulance. Still, it's massively irritating and sometimes a little worrying.

The work count is crazy, but I'm definitely in the home stretch. I'm well into the final section and this bit is finallys starting to flow.

Yikes! Nothing like swelling up sometimes for no apparent reason! *hugs* I hope you're tons better today.

Eeeek, I'm so sorry to hear about your Anaphylaxis, petal, I hope you're feeling a lot better now.

As to the Big Bang, *\o/*

It's mostly irksome, with a side helping of worrying. (I just keep wondering if it's going to get very bad, very fast.) But at least the last trace of swelling finally disappeared this morning.

::kicks stupid overactive immune system::

The swelling's finally gone, and I'm over the last bit of the Benedryl hangover, so yay.

And for the Big Bang, I'm tentatively optimistic, though I may bug you for a plot consult for the final section. It's flowing at the moment, but I have suspect it might dry up on me. ::crosses fingers::

I've got a basic structure that seems to be working, but if it all goes pear-shaped you will be the first to know.

Fear it'll be 40kk?? Nuh-uh. Wrong word, mate. I'm over here *wishing* it'll be 40k..*g*

I hope you are all back to normal now. Yikes.

Be careful what you wish for. *g*

I'm normal now. Or what passes for normal in my life.

And hey, I saw a really good Turkish film a couple of days ago, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's new one, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. I thought of you. ;-)

I can imagine it would have been! *hugs* I'm like that with panic attacks - a few years back if one hit me there was nothing I could do (I can't tell you the number of lovely medics who've had to talk me down out of mental oblivion over the years!) but more recently I've started being able to recognise when one is about to come on and I can either talk myself down or, if needs be, just get myself the hell out of the situation. It always helps to eventually learn a rhythm that your body/brain might get itself into!

Hee! ;) Your secret is safe with me! I'm so jealous that you can write such a long fic, though - I've only ever done that once before for a fandom, it was 22 chapters long or so, and it took me three years to finish! A fast writer I am not...

I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy your evening plans, but thank you for posting about this - a co-worker of mine has been experiencing similar symptoms for several months now. Her allergist hasn't been able to give her any answers either, but it's good to have something ("idiopathic angio-edema") to google!

That can be scary. Glad it wasn't any worse than that.

Good luck on the writing front.
