Adoption Day, 2012
Apr. 9th, 2012 12:19 amToday we celebrated the five years since we adopted Ros. It's a total cliche, but it feels like the time has just flown by, but also like Ros has always been a part of our family.
We spent the morning and afternoon with one of the other families we travelled to China with, and considering we hadn't seen them since last year, it was extraordinary how well Ros and their daughter got on. There was no ten minute evaluation period like there is when she's sizing up other kids these days, they just hugged and started running around the house together, squealing.
The other dad is a fab photographer, and this is one of the pics he took today:

Thought I'd put up a few pics of Ros, over the years.
The first picture of Ros we ever saw, as a rather scared looking six-month-old.

In Beijing, still looking a bit suspicious of these new parental types.

Adoption day 2008, totally adjusted to life in Canada, and ready for her close-up.

Easter 2010, enjoying her favourite candy, jelly beans!

Date: 2012-04-09 06:02 pm (UTC)And, like everyone else, I can't believe it has been five years! Although also, conflictingly, it seems like she's always been part of your life. I guess that's the way with kids. Happy anniversary to your whole, splendid family!

Date: 2012-04-10 12:33 pm (UTC)That second pic is rather worrying, isnt' it. We got that with our referral package, two months before we travelled to China, and really just wanted to go get her right then. We knew the pic so well that when we saw the orphanage workers get out of the elevators at the provincial office and caught a glimpse of the back of her head, we knew immediately that it was her.
