There's still no word on any Mark Owen tour dates, but we just found out that Nick Cave is playing Toronto. Two days before we get back from China.

Crap.

With any luck that's used up my bad luck, but I'm not necessarily going to count on it.

You know, I wouldn't worry too much about the Mark thing ;) As far as I know (and according to the guy who mixed the album), the album won't be released before March/April so I doubt there'd be a tour anytime before that. Not to mention that we have no confirmation whatsoever that Mark is even gonna do a tour. The only thing that's been confirmed is the album but the tour is something that was only in the media and well, we all know there is no trusting the British media ;) So I doubt if there is one it would as early as March.

You just can't have everything - China plus Nick Cave was maybe a wish too far? But I do hope that really is the last of the bad luck!!

Good to know about the album release date. (I've been this close to contacting Jamie Norton on Twitter to ask about exactly that.) And yeah, I know it's not a sure thing he'll tour, but I do have my fingers crossed. I think seeing Mark solo is an even bigger priority for me than seeing TT. I would, of course, love to see them all, and am planning on crossing the pond in 2014 to do exactly that, but going strictly by the music, Mark's albums are the ones that mean the most to me.

I've got a long history of missing Nick Cave concerts. For a period of about ten years he only seemed to play Toronto if I was going to be out of town. And several times he played London either just before or just after I'd been there. I'm sure he'll be back, and in the meantime I've seen him a lot in the last few years. I am chuffed he's back with the Bad Seeds, though.

The guy who mixed the album said not too long ago that it's usually 3-4 months after the mixing is done that an album gets released so that would make it late February - March at the earliest. And I'd guess that Mark would first release a single and see how that goes before planning a whole tour...

I have the worst luck with Tom Waits. I've been fortunate enough to see him a couple of times but in the last few years if he's out on tour I manage to be in the wrong country at the time.

Sounds like your Tom Waits karma is like my Nick Cave karma. Though at least the last ten years he's played dates I could go see him. I hope I'm not entering another ten year drought when he plays dates I can't make.

Well, I doubt Markie will ever play Toronto, (I have to explain who Robbie is to most people over here, forget any other member of TT!) but I should have enough vacation left to pop across to your side of the Atlantic if he does announce any tour dates. Fingers crossed!

My wish list is for him to do dates in soft-seat theatres with assigned seating (because while I'll do it, I'm getting too darn old to stand in queues and then stand at gigs) but I'll honestly be happy if he does any dates at all. So now it's just down to wait and see...

I actually think it would be small venues and clubs - but maybe that's just because it was like that in the old days and I can't imagine him playing big theatres. I hope it's gonna be places like the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London again, that was a lovely gig there!

You're probably right about the choice of venues. I don't see him pulling the numbers that Gary's managed, unjust though that may be! The Shepherd's Bush Empire looks like a fantastic venue to see him. (Shall try not to be jealous that you've seen him live. *g*)

FWIW, at the moment he wants to tour around April, so unless that changes, hopefully the dates should work out for you!

YAY!!!! Bless you for letting me know about that. I know these things are subject to change, but I shall remain hopeful that I'll get to see him live. (It's your sister who works for the TT organization, yeah?)
