Last Minute Escapade Prep
Feb. 18th, 2004 09:02 pmIt's barely even 9 o'clock, but I probably should already be in bed. I have to get up at the ridiculous hour of 3:30--yes, that's A.-freaking-M.--so I can pick up
stormheller and
valentin and get us to the airport in time for our flight to L.A.
In recompense for that slight inconvenience, I finally get to attend Escapade. And the reason I probably won't be trying to get asleep for at least another hour is that I'm stilll madly pulling all the things I need to pack together.
DVD of editing examples for the vidding panel I'm running? Check.
VHS backup of same? Check.
Notes for said vidding panel? Check.
List of zines I own so I don't end up with doubles of something? It's gotta be here somewhere.
Sundry clothes and accoutrements? Spread all over my bleeding bedroom.
Now if I just had a focus for the LotR panel I volunteered to co-mod. The other mod,
gblvr, and I have both been swamped and have only corresponded briefly. And frankly, the topic we inherited less than thrills me. And I quote: "Does the eventual marriage of two major male characters, or even the plot-driven heroism of a female character, diminish the rampant slashworthiness of the LotR movies?" My flip answer would be, "No. Next question." And WTF is the problem with "plot-driven heroism of a female character" anyway? Sigh.
But in just about 12 hours, I'll be in L.A., looking forward to a lovely weekend of slashiness in a place that is a hell of a lot warmer than Toronto right now. Yay!

Date: 2004-02-19 03:56 am (UTC)Suprisingly it wasn't Sam's speech that had me in tears it was the earlier speech by Lady Eowyn on the battlefield that had me tearing up.
The baby flipped out when the Nazgul first showed up and screeched. It was practically doing summersalts in Rebecca's uterus.
The time went by surprsingly fast. I'd like to see it again on the big screen.
