I read the book a couple of years ago, and liked it way, way less than the series -- it's kind of one of those "litfic writer tries scifi" books, and it spent a WHOLE lot of time on the white male genius actor who couldn't keep it zipped up (thankfully, the series made a lot of characters more diverse). And everyone came off as very same-y. One great thing about the series was how different and excellent all the actors were. Miranda's part was made much better and less dependent on the genius actor, and good God, Danielle Deadwyler was just amazing. And I felt the series actually was more about people using art, in various ways, as well as being a much better work of art than the book. But I think the majority of people liked the book a lot better than I did.
