Best Birthday Ever!

So today is the day I seriously enter my forties. (41! Who'd 'a thought it?) I decided I'd like a nice relaxing day, so the Sweetie obliged. He made pancakes this morning, and we're going to hit an afternoon matinee of The History Boys, followed by sushi at one of our favourite Japanese restaurants. (It's the one where we had one of our very first dates - ten years ago! - and where I first taught him how to use chopsticks properly.)
And is if I needed further proof that he is in fact the best Sweetie ever, he (and the lovely m. butterfly) got me the best present I could possibly imagine.
It's Boromir's sword! (Sean Bean not included, alas.)

Other women can squee over jewellry. I get all gooey over edged weapons.
And for the Pros fen among you, I've posted a birthday present to myself, a new Pros story, Do You Know What I Know, over at

Date: 2006-12-18 12:19 am (UTC)I was going to post birthday greetings for you in my journal today, but it seems so much more appropriate here.
That is a pretty awesome present and so totally you. I am surprised he didn't commission a life-sized wax statute of Boromir. Oh, wait I've gone and ruined your Xmas surprise!!!
Hard to believe 10 years have gone by so quickly for the two of you.
If I had time tonight I would watch a P-esque movie in your honour. Many Happy Returns. I'll be sure to give your sweetie your B-day present when I see him later this week.
*Pssst, all the rest of the cool people I know are still in their 30s

Date: 2006-12-18 03:35 am (UTC)And yeah, the present totally rocks. It's utterly gorgeous. (Don't tell Don, but I could totally dress him up like Boromir. I've now got the sword and the vambraces. Not that I'd ever do that. *g*)
And yeah, I can't believe we've been together ten years. Doesn't seem that long at all. Which I suppose is a good thing.
